Re: Lyrics & Meaning of Hari Main to Laakhaya [bhajan]
I got the following lyrics on a google search.
hari mei to laakh yatan kar haari
mahalan dhoonda, giriban dhoonda, dhoondi duniya saari
gokul kunj gali mein dhoonda, dhoonda vrindavan mein,
daal daal se, phool paath se jaa poocha kunjan mein
veethi ki sab kahe harina , abki kahe banwari,
koi kahe sri ram hai kya? ya gauri kaali maiya
mai kahu nahi gopal hain woh ek ban mein charaave gaiyya
umapati parameshwara nahin, na narayan bhaya haari
meera ka hridaya vihaari, meera ka hridaya vihaari
ang pitambar more mukut, sir maala gale sihaave
bahuroopi bade roop dhare, jis naam bulavo aave
meera kahe ab laaj rakho prabhu aavo murali dhaari
meera kahe ab laaj rakho prabhu aavo aavo murali dhaari,
aavo murali dhaari.
is there any audio available online? then i can try to transcribe it. There a few words i dont get.

Re: Lyrics & Meaning of Hari Main to Laakhaya [bhajan]
Like Krishnaa says, some words are not clear even after listening to the audio track. Here is the meaning - Krishnaa can fix the errors...
hari mein tO lAkh yatan kar hAri
Oh krshNA (hari) I have made (kar) countless (lAkh) attempts (yatan) (to locate you), but have failed miserably (hAri)!
mahalan DhUnDa, giriban DhUnDa, DhUnDi duniyA sAri
gOkul kunj gali mein DhUNDa, DhUNDa vrindAvan mein,
dAl dAl se, phUl pAth se jA pUcha kunjan mein
vIti ki sab kahe hari na abki kahe banvAri,
I searched (DhUNDa)for you in the palaces/palatial residences (mahalan), and in hilly forests (giriban). In fact, I have searched for you in the entire (sArI) world (duniyA). I looked for you in the lanes (gali) and gardens (kunj) of gOkul, and in (mein) vRndAvan. And I asked (jA pUchA) every branch (dAl sE), every flower (phUl) and leaf (pAth sE) in every garden (kunjan) (if they knew of your whereabouts). All they spoke of (kahE) was of the past (bItI/bIti ki), but oh lord (banvAri), they do not (na) tell (kahE) me of (ki) the current (ab) status.
koi kahe sri rAm hai kya? ya gauri kAli maiya
mai kahUn nahi gOpAl hain wOh ek ban mein carAve gaiyyAn
umApati parameshwar nahin, nA nArAyan bhaya hAri
mIra ka hridaya vihAri, mIra ka hridaya vihAri
ang pitAmbar, mOr mukuT sar, mAlA gale suhAve
bahurUpi bade rUp dhare, jis nAm bulA voh Ave
mIra kahe ab lAj rakho prabhu Avo murli dhAri
mIra kahe ab lAj rakho prabhu Avo Avo murli dhAri,
Avo murali dhAri.
One of he people (kOi) (I asked) said (kahE), 'is (hai kyA) the person you're looking for, Sri rAm? or (yA) is the person pAravti, as the fair one (gauri) or the dark one (kAli maiyyA)?' And I (mein) tell (kahUn) them, 'Oh no (nahin), he (vOh) is (hai) a (ik) mere cowherd (gOpAl) who grazes (carAvE) cows (gaiyyAn) in (mein) the forest (ban). He is not (nahin) the mighty (param) lord (ISvar), the husband (pati) of pAravti (umA) or (nA) lord vishNu (nArAyan), who removes (hAri) mortal fears (bhay). The one who resides (vihArI) in my/mIrA's (mIrA kA) heart (hRday) has a yellow garment (pItAmber) draped on his limbs/body (ang), a crown (mukuT) made of peacock feathers (mOr) on his head (sar), and looks wonderful (suhAve) with a garland (mAlA) around his neck (gale). He has many (bahu) forms (rUpi), and dons (dhare) many guises (rUp), and he (vOh) comes (AvE), whatever (jis) name (nAm) you chose to call (bulA) him by.
Having said this, mIra then pleads, "my lord (prabhu), you have to help me keep (rAkhO) my honor/word (lAj), and come (AvO) to me, Oh lord who holds (dhAri) a flute (murli)."

Re: Lyrics & Meaning of Hari Main to Laakhaya [bhajan]
Ravi, Really good....
so far, i dont see any errors.
There are just a few "logical" errors that i dont get
I dont understand why the mudrA of mIrA is used and why the verbs are put in pulinga. Like DhunDhA instead of DhunDHI...
can anyone please explain?

Re: Lyrics & Meaning of Hari Main to Laakhaya [bhajan]
The word DhunDha/DhunDhi in hindi meaning "to Search". May be, everybody searched for HIM including all gents men and women the verb is used in both genders. The word kahE is the short form of the word 'kaheeyE", which is often heard used in verbal communications. These are most of the hindi way of taking in rural areas, where less importance is given for grammer, a practice being followed in rural UP places & Delhi areas.
