I have received the invitation for the Sathabhishekam function of Sri M.S.Gopalakrishnan today.

Sathabishekam function of Sri M.S.Gopalakrishnan is to be conducted on 28th May, 2011 on Saturday with the religious function at the Sri Thyagaraja Sangeetha Samajam, Thyagarajapuram. Mylopore, Chennai – 600 004 On his birthday Star[Nakchatram].

On 10th June, 2011, a reception is arranged at the New Woodlands Hotel at Dr. Radhakrishnan Road, Mylopore, Chennai – 600 004, the English birthday of Sri M.S.Gopalakrishnan, at 6.30 PM.

Violin Deut concert of Sri Ganesh and Kumaresh and Party is arranged during the reception followed by Dinner at 7.00 PM.

Delighted to know that a function has been arranged to felicitate Sri MSG. Many many happy returns for this great artiste. My second most favourite artiste for over five decades. We had the privilege of listening to him along with his father in 1957 in Hyderabad (Urudu Hall). Can never forget that great concert. They had just returned from a a very successful tour of Afghanistan ( a country that had produced many outstanding Hindustani musicians in those days, quite a few migrated to India, I suppose)

I am one of the blessed person to have witnessed the trio headed by Sri Parur Sundaram Iyer ably supported by Sri MSG and Sri MSA performing at Sri Thyagaraja Sangeetha Samajam from 1960s. How appropriate that the Sadhabhishekam is being held there....

Dear Rasikas,

It was a very blessed moment for me and my wife in attending the
SATHABHISHEKAM of the Legend SRI M.S.GOPALAKRISHNAN on 28.05.2011.

Having been an ardent Rasika of Sri MSG for the past 5 decades, the nostalgic moments of many memorable concerts of him as an accompanist to the legends of music of the golden age for many vocalists, Veena players S.Balachandar and Emani Sankara Sastri, Flutists Ramani, K.S.Gopalakrishnan[MALI??],
His solo concerts, and duets with Sri Anantharaman and many Jugalbandi music
with many Hindustani musicians when I was attending the Sathabhishekam function of SRI MSG.

Only his relatives, very close friends and his disciple and their parents were invited.

Only Sri T.V.Gopalakrishnan from the musician’s side attended the function.

The function went off well.

I have made a request to Dr.Narmada to upload the photos and video clippings of the function. She has indicated that this will be done. We have to wait till the photos and Videos are received by them.

Two images and 2 Video clippings taken in my camera are uploaded for all the Rasikas and enjoy.The download links are given below.

He as well as T V Goplakrishnan (Mridangam) has Chembai's Aseervaadam in abundance.

I have attended the reception arranged by Sri M.S.Gopalakrishnan at the New Woodlands Hotel held on 10.06.2011 in connection with his 81st birthday [English date of birth].

There was a Violin concert of Sri Ganesh and Kumaresh and party from 6.00 PM to 08.PM.

Many musicians, his fans, disciples and VIPS attended the reception.

Woodlands is a surprisingly good venue for organizing such events. The acoustics are excellent for kutcheris both in the outdoor stage and in the little mandapam inside. And the catering is excellent.

Glad to hear that the Ganesh-Kumaresh concert went well.
