I thought I heard his name somewhere in the forum, but did not know anything about this artist. I just went to hear him after months of starvation without a concert here.
Sandeep Narayan presented a very enjoyable concert. He has a powerful voice-loud and clear. Right from the varnam until the last piece he presented with full energy and enthusiasm. He did get the complete attention of the audience. The choice of kritis was good, no unnecessary fillers. Each piece had an element of manodharma.
The hamsanAdam piece was just lovely and highlight of the concert. Everybody was anticipating banTu rIti but a new song in this ragam was refreshing to hear. Neraval of the pallavi line was sweet!
SankarAbharanam was sedate and very well executed. The neraval and kalpanaswarams for all the kritis were very good and did have the stamp of his guru Sanjay Subrahmanyan. We even got a Sanjayish RTP-well done! I liked the sindhu bhairavi svarams. He reached some high notes and ended the RTP in style.
I really admire this artist for moving to Chennai to pursue a full-time career as a Carnatic musician while his family lives in LA. Good wishes to him. I’m sure he will shine and have his own style in the years to come.
Raman, our local vidwan is a brilliant violinist and his accompaniment sparkled.
Sandeep had his brother on mridangam and played a good tani. His accompaniment overall was very good.
The concert was 2.45 min.

I am 99% sure that Niroshta Tillana is a composition of Sri TN Seshagopalan (grand-disciple of Harikesanallur Muthiah Bhagavathar).
I mistakenly announced it as HMB's composition in the concert. Sorry about that!

Although I generally dislike hamsanAdam, I do like "isai pADa vENDumE". Would be curious to listen to an elaborate version of this with neraval. I've only heard Sanjay sing the krithi itself. Thanks for the review, Suji!
