If you're serious about dancing, then I think the only way is to ditch your future wife, and find someone who understands your passion, maybe even shares it. I'm not a dancer, but I honestly think to live your life, constantly compromising your goals and denying your gift is a crime. Good luck!

ardhanariswar - poor suggestion. There are other ways to solve the family problem; if all else fails ......

Dear Salangai, (This is for sure not a professional advice, but just something to make you feel better)
Dont give up... on anything! Be it dance or be it convincing about dance...
Slowly but surely your family and peers will support you, Just be calm and try to explain to them. If they don't understand now, do dance as a passion and eventually pick it up for profession. For now, continue dancing and do it for your own satisfaction. When the right time comes, the door will open up to professional dancing. keep faith!

He's already talked to his family and tried to explain but it hasn't worked out, so future discussion won't be of much help. In my opinion, I don't think marrying someone who disagrees with your future profession is the right way to go, for both parties involved.
