Re: Music Concert for a Cause
'Sambodhayati' -- 'Bodhi' means to rouse the senses , and 'Sam' means Society or all. 'Sambodhayati'- a movement that aims to rouse our "sense and sensibility" towards the spectrum of social disadvantage that we are surrounded by, which is often ignored and neglected. In their first programme , Tejas Foundation (http://www.tejashealth.com) and Dr. Vijayalakshmy Subramaniam (VS Classics, http://www.vijayalakshmysubramaniam.com) have come together, to reach out to the society with music as a medium of expression and engagement.
After a brief introduction of the idea behind the concept by Mrs. Gayathri Krishnamoorthy , Director, Tejas Foundation, Dr.
Subbulakshmi Natarajan , research consultant - VHS hospital, gave a talk to the residents of Vishranti about 'Music, Brain and Mind' and how music can be very engaging and refreshing to the mind. This was followed by an excellent music concert by Dr. Vijayalakshmy Subramaniam accompanied by Anayampatti Sri Venkatasubramaniam on the violin and Sri T.R.Sundaresan on the Mridangam. The song list comprised many popular songs, a few of which are mentioned below

The audience were very responsive and completely engaged in the concert, some of them interacting with the artiste, requesting for songs, guessing what the next song in the concert would be, reminiscing yester-year concerts and expressing how happy they were to listen to such a nice concert. Dr. Vijayalakshmy Subramaniam sang a simple bhajan at the end of the concert and requested the audience to repeat and sing along with her, and they thoroughly enjoyed doing it! This evening of music definitely was testimony to the words - 'Music has the power to heal and bring a smile to many a face' . What a nice evening it was!

Re: Music Concert for a Cause
A sincere request. Can we please use the term "resident" in lieu of "inmate"?
Thank you.
Thank you.

Yes, you are right, even though I'm sure no offence was intended.
Did anyone come to the concert from outside the organisation? My wife and I had thought to, but decorators worked later than we expected.

Re: Music Concert for a Cause
The concert was for a cause
Not for applause
It had a song in BhimplAs
The residents must have been happy
to listen to a concert of such a class
For those of us who couldn't attend
It is our loss
