Cienu,
All that started, all that took place went well
And ended well too--to put it another way,
It all went fabulously well, no doubt!

Thanks for the extra pictures. There are a few forumites I cannot identify. Since it was an 'informal' gathering, I suppose those who were there had plenty of time to interact and to get to know each other's names. They could help us identify the unfamiliar faces there.
Who plays the violin for Aishwarya? I see Lalitha (the other half of GBL) singing. Who's the one in blue who also sings?

Arasi,
The lady in blue is Sridevi who sang wonderfully & is a forumite who introduced herself as an avid reader of rasikas.org but who writes very occasionally. In fact she had just landed a few hours back from London and came to this meet fighting a jet lag :)GBL's wife too sang an Ashtapadi and moved our hearts. Madhav Rao regaled us with Dasara Padagalu. Saundarya gave a demonstration of her progress on the violin and also sang a bhajan. The group also sang "Raghupathi Raghava Raja Ram " together. svkashyap who was to bring a violin, unfortunately did not turn up, (possibly due to pressing engagements). The meet commenced with "Pankaja Lochana" - Amma and Aishwarya singing together, after which Aishwarya played the veena.
Post the get together, we were served with piping hot Semiya Upma & Rava Kesari made by Geetha's mother along with Samosas and lemon grass tea made from freshly plucked leaves. Sri Nageswaran was kind enough to bring his hard disk and a few Rasikas could copy the Trichy Sankaran tapes and other videos like the previous Rasikas meet held at Chennai. On the whole it was truly a very enjoyable meet and my sincere thanks to the Rasikas who made it. Will surely try and upload a few videos in a day or 2.

Cienu,
What a blunder on my part! Of course I saw Soundarya in the pictures that you posted first. When I quickly scanned the album, though I know Soundarya plays the violin, the profile shots and her serious mien fooled me as I went through the pictures! She may feel offended that Arasi PATTi did not recognize her :( Tell her that it was merely because she looked so serious and grown up in those pictures ;)
And to think I was 'almost' there in Bengaluru yesterday :(
Good to know Jayashri and others took the trouble to come. When Aishwarya plays her great grandmother's vINA, you cannot but feel MSS's aura around you.You may remember the poem I wrote about listening to Aishwarya when she played on the vINA for me for the first time. I cannot type in tamizh fonts. If only one of the KavidaigaL Section friends who has a copy of my book can do that for me! Otherwise, I will type it in transliteration. I have a feeling it may strike a chord in the rasikAs who were gathered there yesterday.

Ofcourse Arasi , I do remember when you composed this instantly on hearing Aishwarya play the veena (sometime in Jan 2008)

Wow, Cienu! You still have that piece of paper!
Then again, it's not a surprise. You're your mother's son in meticulously collecting memorabilia of your grandmother when most of us haven't paid much attention to preserving family history.

yes , it was a very enjoyable day , Cienu sparing no pains to make the function a grandsuccess. Those who sang made a great impression. the surprise of the day was sri Madhava Rao , a bosom friend of Sri.Ngeswaran who delighted us by singing some dasar padagalu with devotion, bhakti , bhavam with sangatis of a very pleasing nature. He was the man of the match , I make a very special mention of mr.Madhava rao bescause he said that he did not have any basic knowledge of carnatic music, unbelievably true.Aishwarya delighted us with her soulful rendering of bhavam filled 'pankajalochana' and the highly popular sarasa samadhana on the veena . AIshwarya has touched greater heights since i heard her 2 years back. Let me end my narration witha joke as usual . . In the oldendays 60 to 70 years bck it was a status symbol to arrange a kutcheri of legendary Ariyakkdi in marriages conducted by zamindars and other highly rich persons After one such kutcheri when bidding good bye to Ariyakkudi,a zamindar whose IS an aurangazeb of music just to flatter ARIYAKKUDI said ' NAAN MUNNAI KETTADAI VIDA eppo innunm romba nallapadarel. ARIYAKKUDI retorted ' naan eppavum pola than pdaren , avvidathile gnanam valanthirukku . I am reciting this because i wrote thatA ISWARYA HAS TOUCHED GREATER HEIGHTS THAN BEFORE. Enakku than gnanam valandirukku

Dear Global Rasikas,

Next time any global Rasika visit India, they must make a compulsary visit to

the Heritage home of of our Cienu's home.

The various photos of MS AMMA decorating the hall receiving innumarable awards

from the various VIPS in India and other nations must be seen.

Do come with a camera and have them photograffed and kept with them for posterity

of the legendary MS AMMA.

Then you can see the Veena used by Sri Rangaramanujam presented to MS AMMA.

Also the Veena used by MS AMMA and hear Cienu explaining the places where MS AMMA

played in some important concerts with Veena around the world.

I have to give so many reports about the Rasikas' meet at Bangalore.

Suffice to say that the meet was a sublime one with the presence of

MRS RADHA AMMA who sat through the entire programme enjoying every moment

of the music sung by differant Rasikas.

I am giving the download link of MRS RADHA AMMA greeting the Rasikas.

First of all - my brother and I had a wonderful afternoon at cienu sir's home, something that will be in my memory forever. I would like to sincerely thank him and his family for being such wonderful hosts. For me, having grown up listening to MS Pati's music - every year at the RSM in the late 70s through the mid 80s - this was like a dream. I never imagined that I will be in a photograph with Smt. Radha amma, of course - dreams do come true!
Kum. Aishwarya singing Pankaja Lochani with Smt. Radha amma brought back complimentary memories from those times. My father and our family had heard them near our house at the "Mini Forest" couple of years back (starting with Era Napai) - and recently I had wondered on this forum if she was performing :) Kum Aishwarya played kalyani varnam and Sarasa sama dhana on MS Pati's veena! The brighas were so exquisite on the veena - I was reminded of a program on national program of music (that used to come on saturday nights on AIR) when a performance of Karaikudi Sambasiva Iyer was broadcast in the late 70s/early 80s of the same song, and my father's reminiscences of the maestro - those were my early days of initiation to music.
Sri Madhava rao sang some never heard before (at least by me) dasara padagalu. He seems to be very comfortable with both Kannada and Tamil! Smt. Sridevi's kanaka dasa song - and Smt. GBL's ashtapadi, and young Soundarya's violin and "raghupati raghava" made it a very memorable afternoon. Thanks much to Sri. Nageswaran who took the initiative and cienu sir and family for hosting it at their beautiful house.

I have heard couple of others mention resemblance with "mridhangam" Vid. Mannarkoil Balaji. In fact, when I attended LGJ sir's 80th celebrations at the music academy Vid. Ramh's father talked to me as though I was vidwan Mannarkoil Balaji !! Hope to get some layam knowledge someday (http://www.rasikas.org/forums/viewtopic. ... 0&p=198348 and http://www.rasikas.org/forums/viewtopic. ... 9&p=194335)
