In the Hamsanandi tillana attributed to Mutthiah Bhagavathar - see sample at:
http://www.muzigle.com/track/thillana-122
the mudra is "Padmanabha dasa" - is that an anomaly, or is this a wrong attribution, or did the late composer not always use the same mudra in all compositions?
Hamsanandi tillana - Muthiah Bhagavathar - mudra missing?

It is an anomaly. The tillAnA is in volume 3 of his compositions. Normally his mudra harikEsha is found in most of his songs.

This tillana is composed by muthiah Bhagavatar on his patron and the last Royal ruler of the Travancore State, maharaja Chithira Tirunal Balarama Varma. The rulers of Travancore considered themselves to be the slaves of Lord Sri Padmanabha of Trivandrum for whom they rule the State.Hence the phrase 'Padmanabha dasa'(and it not used as a mudra)

Thanks a lot to both of you for the clarifications. So I guess this tillana has no mudra at all then. There do seem to be other tillanas in Hamsanandi - I hope the one i linked is indeed the composition of HMB!
