Sales of Ganjira banned
I am vacationing here in India and was looking to buy a ganjira for my little one to take back and was told by a music shop that they are banned from selling ganjiras henceforth. I was wondering how the ganjira atists and students are circumventing this problem?

Re: Sales of Ganjira banned
As monitor lizards are now covered under the Protected Species Act, Kanjira made of lizard skin is not available in the market. But Kanjiras with goat skin and synthetic skins are available.

This actually happened some years ago. Shops may no longer sell the instrument, but supply by the workshops to musicians does not seem to have been affected.
