Ramakrishnamoorthy in Pallavi Durbar

Post by malavi »

Ramakrishnamoorthy the young man from US gave a very good performance in Pallavi Durbar on 5th aug. with Nagai Sriram on violin and Kallidaikkurichi Sivakumar on mrudangam. He sang with great confidence and maturity. He had his training under sri.Chengalpat Ranganathan in whose memory this programme was conducted.
The pallavi was in Todi and the theme was Nada pallavi in 4 kalai. It was tisra triputa talam 4 kalai and kanda nadai he said. The way he executed the same was very good, raga alapana tanam and pallavi being sung with equal importance in all speeds.I had recently attended a couple of his concerts and they were excellent. The way he sings niraval reminded me of sri.KVN. As i was not well eqipped i could not write down the words. It was something like this " Dasarate karunapayonide mampahi".Most important thing was he could do every thing within the stipulated time.
As sri.Ramanathan said at the end of the concert he will be very soon a top singer.Wish him all the best.

Thanks for the review!
The way he sings niraval reminded me of sri.KVN.
He sings in a thin, KVN-like voice too. :)
Most important thing was he could do every thing within the stipulated time.
Is 1.5 hr too scarce for a pallavi-only concert? Time needs blow up with 4-kaLai, though.

listened to his concert in SSI centenary celebration 10 days back.He has all the lakshanam to become a top notch.I sent him a message through face book;he has been learning from Delhi Sunderrajan since 2001 apart from learning under late CRN.Time to time he learns padams & Javalis from Ms.Savita Narasimhan.
