Gokulashtami Celebrations at Unnati was flagged off by Priya Sisters who gave a scintillating performance. Varna in kadanakutuhala was brisk and lively. Swaras in Hamsadhwani was enjoyable. They cleverly chose sowrashtra by singing Ranganathude . I have always enjoyed listening to Mukhari . A good alaap by Haripriya. Listening to swaras in Mukhari was a pleasure as we usually dont hear swaras in this raaga in concerts. [ am hearing after a long , long time!]. Hindola , Asaveri are some of the raagas usually sung by priya sisters quite often and they handle it beautifully. The highlight of the concert was Gananaya Deshika in Rishabhapriya. Shanmukhapriya's elaboration of this rare raaga was beautiful. [ I had read about the sisters singing this composition and the unique way in which they end the swaras when they sing this kriti ....]
But hearing it live .... It was awsome. They ended the swaras alternately at shadja , rishabha,.. so on .. up to nishada. Some excellent rendition of swaras by Shanmukhapriya!
Haripriya continued by elaborating Kambhoji

The audience enjoyed post thani compositions. Great support by Krishnaswamy on violin, Satish Kumar was brilliant as usual.
Good support on khanjira by Purushottam.
It was an enjoyable concert , with krits of various composers chosen.
