L-ji. Thanks for posting the song list.

It was a wonderful concert by Nisha Rajagopal (former Toronto-nian). I was quite impressed by the felicity in her voice to produce complex brighas. Her open-throated singing style and AkArams in the upper stAyi were excellent. The pallavi was handled very competently. While most of the songs were standards, the ranjani song by the Mysore(?) composer was new to me.

Sri Ganesh Prasad's bowing was exceptional. He brings out a very nice nAdam from the bass strings; which complements the high-sruti voice of the lady vocalist. Sri VVS did this very well while accompanying Smt MSS.

L-ji: Isn't the tillAnA by LGJ in brindAvani?

It is brndAvani. I sometimes get confused between the two. sadA sAranga nayanE was popularized by MSS. H.Yoganarasimham was a disciple of Vasudevachar.

L-ji: Thanks for the song list.

Glad to see that it was a 3+ hour kutcheri. Somehow, I don't seem to catch enough (any?) of those during the music season. I am sure many will agree that there is some X-factor that makes it extra enjoyable to experience an artist(s) in full flow for over 3 hours compared to the more common duration of 2.5 hours! Maybe it is just a simple case of "dil maangey more." :)

BTW, isn't the Anandabhairavi krithi "KamalAmbA Samrakshatu mAm..."? Not sure if you meant that one or if there is another similar krithi.
