-Sita patiki harathire-Suruti.
The concert was a good treat to the rasikas who packed the school hall and remained glued to their seat till the end encouraging the artists with liberal applause. The harikambhiji piece was crystal pure without any interference. Raga Simmendhra madhyamam received detailed treatment with extensive alapana niraval and swaram which were fluent without being intertwined.
The kundalavarali added pep to the tempo of the concert . The R T P in nattaikurinjee was simply superb. In alapana and swara repartees, the violinist Raghavendra Rao matched the two singers’ wits at every turn, though keeping an impassive expressionless countenance .Narayanan’s “ nadai “ was regal and particularly lilting at kundalavarali and kurinjee. During the thanam his “gumukkis” punctuated the diction deliciously, remindful of his illustrious master (U K S ). The thani in adi thalam tisra nadai was crisp and Murali’s adroit fingers “ played” over the pot. The success of the3 hours concert was in no small measure due to the spirit of camaraderie and mutual joyful encouragement among the members of the team .A few more tamil compositions and a little more emphasis on the brigas prayogam would have made the the concert ideal .

Thanks for the review, PBhairavi.
Nice list. The varNam at the 'beginning' too. I haven't heard this Durga song at all.
Nice that they sang bhArathi's veLLait tAmaraip pUvil iruppAL. As a little girl, I was lucky enough to sing it as the invocation song at Ettayapuram's Bharathi vizhA! We were taught to sing it as a rAgamAlikA. I have heard Sanjay Subrahmanyan sing it as an RTP as well.

enduku nirdaya and nAga gAndhAri are my favored songs. Hope I get to hear them in some concert this season.

Arasi thanks. Malladi bros , being disciples of Nedunuri , stick to the tradition and sing varnam at the beginning and mangalam at the end.Vellaithamarai is the masterpiece of MMI.. You were fortunate enough to sing it at Ettayapuram the source, like a holy dip at Gangothri. The bros here too preceded this item with a short alapana of abheri .The special feature of this concert was the mridangam accompaniment to the thanam which only gifted mridangists like neyveli narayanan make it delectable. I was wondering how wonderful it would have been if they had included some Oothukadu. There is another wonderful tamil song in Harikamboji in praise of Bharathi "paamaalaiku inaiyundo " which Sanjai sang in his last concert at bhairavi puduchery

You seem to be roping in all stars these days in Puduvai!
Have you ever had an exclusively Bharathi's songs concert? Of course, celebrating the bard's day, you might have had children and local singers sing Bharathi songs alone. I mean, has a professional performer from Chennai done that?

Dear arasi,
Thanks. It is true. I am happy that there is great awareness among Pondicherry public about the value of carnatic music. So we are able to get more sponsors. With all your blessings and wishes this trend should continue. As secretary, I should thank all the sponsors and our untiring Office bearers and enthusiastic members. Our endeavour is to bring more and more top carnatic artists without detrimental to the upcoming youngsters.
