Hello,
I'm learning sarangi and I'm having several problems that I haven't been able to solve. One of the main ones has to do with bowing.
When the sarangi is tuned to C, and I try to play Dha or Ni on the main high pitched string, it always makes a noise. It only happens in those notes, I can play for a long time without any artifacts from Sa to Pa. As soon as I get to Dha or Ni, then problems again.
So here are some questions:
Do I need to bow in a certain angle for those notes?
Should I worry about the rosin quality?
Do I need to clean the string when it is all covered with rosin?
Is there any thing to apply to avoid? Oil, powder, etc?
With Love,

Sri Uddhavadasa :
If I may make a humble suggestion : it is appropriate and respectful to find a guru - In India, music is learned from the guru, just as higher precepts in Vaishnava thought were learned from the guru, Srila Prabhupada in the West.
Learning an instrument through self-teaching can be done, for whatever individual purposes, but it will be limiting. BBoards such as this can only give some info, not much else.

Sorry, I don't know but the maestro listed earlier might have suggestions or you could move to where the music guru/teacher is, if you are serious about learning Indian music.
By the way, who is Sri Babaji?
