vandisuvudAdiyali gaNanAthna

Post by venkata makhi »

Full lyric of this great dAsara pada has been posted in another thread (http://www.rasikas.org/forums/viewtopic. ... uvu#p64303)
I would appreciate if someone can post the meaning here. I like the style used by Rajani in this forum as it provides not only the overall meaning, but the meaning of each word and phrase are included.

From Sangeethashare.org:

P: Vandisuvudadiyali gnanathana
AP: Sandeha salla shrihariyajne idakuntu
C1: Hinde rAvaNa tAnu vandisade gajamukhana nIndu tapavanu gaidu vara padeyalu
ondu nimishadi bandu vignavanu aAcharisi tanda varagalanella dharege iLisidanu
C2: andina bageyaritu bandu hari dharmajage munde ganapana poojisendu pele
onde manadali bandu poojisalu gananatha hondisida nirvignadinda rajyavanu
C3: indu jagavella umanandananana poojisalu chendadindali sakala siddigalanittu
tande siri purandhara vittalana sEveyoLu banda vignava kaLedAnandavanu koduva

Meaning:
P: (one must) worship Gananatha in the beginning (of any proceeding)
AP: Shri Hari has ordained that this (worshipping GaNapati) must happen
C1: Long time back Ravana did penance (standing all the time) without worshipping Gananatha and obtained boons, (at that time) GajAnana came in a minute(nimisha), arranged for obstruction, and made the power of the boons to go down in to earth.
C2: Hari (shrikrishna), knowing the then existing situation, told Dharmaraja to worship Gajanana, and on him worshipping Gananatha with one mind, he attained his kingdom without any difficulty.
C3: Today if all the universe worships the son of Uma, he will happily grant all wishes (powers)
Service to father shri purandaravithala will ensure going away of all troubles and will bring happiness.

In the last line, PD makes a beautiful connection between the theme of the song and his favorite deity ...

tande siri purandara viTTLa sEveyoLu = During the worship of Purandara viTTala, who is the father of the universe
banda vighnava kaLedu = [gananAtha] destroys all obstacles that arise [and..]
Anandavanu koDuva = One who gives eternal bliss

Is this the correct interpretation?
