It was a fantastic concert, right from start to finish, with such a fine selection of songs and ragams. Neraval and Swarams in the Sri Swaminathaya were in the charanam line “Gajamba Ramanaaya” . Janani Ninnuvina was serene, with exquisite sangatis in the pallavi line, and set the stage for the main piece – Todi. The Neraval and Swarams in Karthikeya Kangeya were rendered in “Maalmaruga Shanmuga”, and following this was an energetic thaniavartanam by Sri. Ananthakrishnan and Sri. Guruprasad

The RTP for the day was set to talam Trimukhi – which is a total of 21 beats per cycle. The Pallavi line started with the words “Simmendra Madyame” and Smt. VS seamlessly and beautifully substituted the pallavi words with Hindolam, Kalayana Vasantham, Mohanam, Hamsanadam in the ragamalika swarams following the Neraval and Trikalam.

The selection of Charukesi for setting to tune, Guru Nanak’s verse was very apt, and the entire interpretation was enchanting. The slokam preceding Bhavayaami Gopalabaalam was “Kararavindena Padaravindam”. There was never a dull moment in this concert, with such a grand songlist, and excellent renditions that held audience in rapt attention.

The concert was lively, passionate, and full of charisma , as written by Sri. T.K Ganapathy in the review - http://www.thehindu.com/todays-paper/tp ... 437290.ece
