Nice Panthuvarli swarams, and excellant swarajathi.
TVR smiled after seeing the chit before singing kalyani.
He might have already decided about kalyani.
I was expecting a Pallavi after Kalyani, but two more chits derailed that.
It was a very nice concert.

14 rAdhA samEtA krishnA - MishraYaman, Folklore not jayadeva

Sombody has mentioned that Karuniso Ranga -- Jogiya -- Purandaradasaru
I am not sure about the raga anyway.

He was looking at the paper for swarajathi and had lots of books which he kept referring.
I thought it was bit odd.

Thank you for putting the list here.It was a great concert and humble Pranams to the great Vidwan

Srikant,

We were seated in the middle portion almost 2-3 rows from the back side.
To be very precise right next to an old couple who had given me the "Vasudevayani" chit :D
I was initially a bit reluctant in giving the chit but he mentioned a story where he attended GNB singing the
same krithi during his college time!!! He wanted to hear it from the real torch bearer of that bani.
So i gave the chit right after the beautiful Sahana Krithi :) We were not disappointed at all!
I don't remember how many times that old couple thanked us. They were truly thrilled.
Though we expected a Pallavi, as mentioned more chits derailed it.
But there was a wonderful Kanada alapana and an interesting Kuntalavarali krithi.
We were treated with an excellent un-adulterated music.

Great to read about TVR's concert. His bAlagOpAla in San Diego last year is fresh in my memory. We are truly honoured to get glimpses of the soul of CM from stalwarts such as these. There is something heightened about their concerts due to an evolved and matured sense of aesthetics, a unique insight into the essence of music...

Bilahari, a friend once told me, "periyavA kacheri na periyavA kacheri daan", and I again saw why in this concert. Yes, how they, without fail, pull off thrilling concerts with the same old inta cAlamu and vAtApi. :D

We were seated in the middle portion almost 2-3 rows from the back side.
I saw a group of four or five, were you that group? -- I am guilty of having passed on two chits for others too. I was sitting in the front of the second half of middle seats. Thankfully, TVR chose sukhI evarO from the chits I was coaxed into giving. There was also the "note" (OMG!) among the requests, and himagiri tanayE too ... the handwriting was bad and I couldn't make out the others.

I often wish to hear some things before a concert begins (I wanted a shankarAbharaNam yesterday), but after the concert begins, it changes.

The hall provides for a reasonably intimate listening experience (I got a good seat too!). Rather like the CLT ...

One thing that always I see in TVR' s concert , there is generally more heavy numbers even before the tukkada tapers off. To that extent he is one of the antha kAlathu torch bearer. Also assuming MAS in violin with TVR , was carnatic aggression at its best.

I like Indirangar Sangeetha Sabha - the audio is good - and the audience is involved. Unfortunately I am not in town, would not have missed TVR.

Yes Srikant, I suppose you have seen us only.We were a group of five and I was sitting right next to our braindrain(jayan) and
the old couple :D

Regarding accompanying artists MAS was terrific i thought,Umayalpuram Mali was good.Ghatam was hardly audible though.

ISS (Purandara bhavan) is one of the best concert venues in Bangalore.

Yes, but they should do something about the 100 odd noisy fans in the auditorium...

Nice to that TVR is still giving quality performances. It is a pity that his concerts in Chennai are not well attended. I think also that he has not had a slot at Music Academy annual conference in the last couple of years.

I haven't heard this Sahana kriti of GNB .. .will have to look for it.

Oh you meant the thing which gives kARRu (gALi). :$ But there aren't 100 of them I think. ;)

Definitely! They have their own shruti, which absolutely spoils the music-blending-with-its-shruti effect. The pantuvarALi and bhairavi would have been absolutely magical, if not for them.

 I liked this.. I was talking the ones fitted on the walls, slanting ! Those glued on to the seats were far lesser, I suppose !

I felt TVR is an antha kAlathu torchbearer in deeper ways than that.

If I had, like Bilahari, taken a notebook to the concert, I could have probably written more elaborately why that is. Glimpses of the soul of CM, indeed ...
