Thanks Amateur, for the Link.
So, it is "aalisu", not Palisu ...
Could you also pl confirm the Ragam and Taalam in the uploaded Audio Clip :
http://www.sendspace.com/file/r7bi22.
Is it Sindu Bhairavi Ragam ?
Taalam ??
Was this song sung in the same Ragam & Taalam in the movie "Subba Sastry" also ?
The lyrics appear to be in Kannada. Pl confirm.
But, was the movie "Subba Sastry" a Kannada movie, or a Telugu movie ?, or ??
TIA

Amateur, Thanks for confirming that the Movie was also in Kannada.
**********
smala,
Thanks for the details of this movie.
Could you also pl let us know the year of release of this movie.
You have given the names of the Lyricist and the Music Composer for the Movie,
but I hope this Song's Composer is still Raamaswaamy Aiyyangaar as given in http://www.karnatik.com/c1289.shtml
**********
I don't want the whole translation, but just the meaning of these words :
aalisu
palisu
tvarE tvarE toTTilinaa hasugoosu marE marE (each word in this line in AP)
kuppasa
heroLole
**********
When posting this Msg as well as the earlier one, I have corrected Palisu to aalisu in the Subject line of the Msg, yet it does not reflect or correct the Main Title, or atleast henceforth for all subsequent Posts. Why so ??
I have observed this "error" earlier too.
The idea is that if the Title / Subject is corrected, it should reflect in the Main Thread's Topic Title, or atleast in the subsequent posts by any member.
To restrict free changes in the Title every now and then, this "right" could be given to the original author (Post # 1), and the Moderator.
TIA

Forgot to request smala or others - if the Ragam is Sindu Bhairavi ?? in the Audio Clip I posted in sendspace (http://www.sendspace.com/file/r7bi22) (as well as in the movie, since the tune is the same in both), and the Taalam of this song.

Name : Subbashastri
Release Date : 01-Jan-1966
Parent Category : Drama
Format : 35MM
Language : Kannada
On the composer query Kannada rasikas are best able to confirm. On the Raga as well. The tune seems the same in both the movie version and the recording, as stated.

Re: Alisu Krishnana Kuzhalina ... Req Lyrics, Rgm, Tlm, Cmp
Sundar Krishnan,
I found in the web the correct lyric and a good translation -
Here is a song from the film ‘Subbashastry’, a b/w film released during 1964. A rarest song sung by Srirangam Gopalarathnam for Chandrakala on the screen, music by Veena Doreswamy Iyyengar and S Krishnamurthy, lyric was penned by Shri Purohita ThirunarayanaIyengar Narasimhachar, popularly known as Pu Thi Na. The song narrates that the mesmerizing tune of Shri Krishna’s flute makes you forget everything and attracts all towards it.
Some details of the film:
Based on Professor A N Murthy Rao’s novel Ashaadabhoothi (means Hypocrite, Impostor) Starring Kalyankumar, K S Ashwath, Arun kumar, Shivaraj, Shivanand, M S Subbanna, L N Swamy, Harini, Chandrakala, Lakshmamma, Mynavathi and others.
Story and Dialogue: Prof: A N Murthy Rao
Singers: M Balamuralikrishna, Shreerangam Gopalarathnam
Music Direction: Veena Doreswamy Iyengar/S Krishnamurthy
Produced and Directed by Shri M V Krishnaswamy
Lyric goes here:

kjrao, Thanks for the details.
You have mentioned that you obtained the lyrics and translation from the net.
Would appreciate if you could provide that link. Thanks.
************
smala's Post # 8 says 1966, whereas kjrao's date in Post # 9 says 1964.
************
As I requested in # 7, and cnfmed by smala in # 8, would (still waiting) like to know the Ragam and Taalam of this song.
************
I now observe that the Title has changed to Alisu. Thanks.
Curious to know how, & by whom.
************
Some Musings - (since so much has been mentioned in this thread on the movie : Subbashastry ) :
When they release info on Movies, why don't they also make it a point to release the Base Ragams for each of the songs ? {for those, which are based on Ragams !}
In the absence of such structured info being put out upfront, along with the movie's Music Album release, people have to later make an extra effort to find this info.
I have seen some such list-compilations of various Hindi film songs along with the Ragams on which they are based etc (don't have the link info immly now).
Similarly, I have seen some discussions in forum-groups, where they state that a certain film song is based on a certain Ragam, for eg, some of Ilayaraja's are based on Shankarabharanam etc.
Would appreciate if web links to such Lists for Hindi and Tamil Films respectively, can be provided by someone, a list which includes the foll info also :
Movie Name -> Movie Song -> Base Ragam(s)- if any ! -> Singers -> Music Dir -> Main Actors -> Year -> Any Spl Rmrks -> ...
{often, in films, we may have Mishra Ragams, which I feel are the creative efforts of the Music Dir / Singers}
The Spl Rmrks could also include info on any special instruments like the use of Double Violin, or the special effects of a certain instrument etc ... ; on or the specialities of the lyrics of a certain song etc ...

Sundar Krishnan,
Since I am least interested in any of the additional information you need, I can't help you. Since one or two words were not very clear to me, I googled and found the following link. Use it only for lyric and meaning.
