Sanjay was having a strained and tired voice right from start.
Sarasangi, is associated with Soorya, The delineation was there all thru. Malayalam staff (of Soorya Festival)were more. Sanjay aptly sang Swathi Thirunal.
Saranga had brisk swara patterns in the alapana.
The best was the Bairavi alapana, 4 stages of development. The last was an achievement. There was much of Veena bani in the recital. All types of Brigas were there . The jaaru and holding to theevra swara were effected very nicely.
The swaras were very like a veena bani. (know that veena needs to be close to gayana , here it was the other way around)
The initial fear on the voice was forgotten.
Ravishankar was in want for the laya sharpness in Sanjay.

Beautiful list, with sAranga, nIlAmbari and bhairavi -- and khamAs after the pallavi. This idea of singing two krtis in the same rAgam is sort of nice too (for a rAgam like nIlAmbari that is). Is the jaya jaya padmanAbha the same as the one sung in maNirangu?

Please tell which krtis had AlApanai, neraval and swarams ... Was nIlAmbari the main -- or was sAranga?

The two krithis go something like this:

jaya jaya padmanAbhAnujEsha .. - maNirangu

jaya jaya padmanAbha murare .. - sarasAngi

Saranga was the main piece (if you want to call it so) . I think the nIlambari piece(s) had no kalpana swaras. It was bhairavi all the way.
