Which are the most touching "Rama" Nama alapanas in kritis?

My list includes

" Palukavademira Ramaa.. ( by Madurai Mani, Devamanohari)

Please add some of your suggestions.

In BhadrAchala RAmadAs's ennagAnu rAma bhajana, MS singing the charanam rAma chilukanokaTi penchi, the line rAma rAma, rAmayanuchu always moves me.

When you say alapana, what do you mean?

Based on your examples, you seem to be using that to mean the krithis that have 'Rama' in the pallavi line. Is that what you meant?

If so, I will put in "ninnE nera namminAnurA O rAmA" ( pantuvarali ). The raga bhava meshes so well in that 'O rama' making it very touching. The live concert instance is by Smt. Ponnammal. Her stage presence and a certain inexplicable timbre in her voice all made it that much more touching when she sang that 'O rAmA' part.

There are innumerable compositions with 'Rama'. In fact, the majority of Thyagaraja Kirthanas have 'Rama'. In Vasantha bhairavi also, when MS sings Rama Rama in neraval, it is moving. What of MS is not moving? We have Bhadrachala Ramadas compositiions like 'Ramanamamu' in Atana and 'Emiruchira Rama' in Poorvikalyani, sung soulfully by Somu. The list is endless.

rAma nAmamanu vara in Thyagaraja's baNTu rIti koluv(i)yy(av)ayya rAma - haMsanAdaM. Madurai Somasundaram made it memorable. What a treat it is to listen to him (recording of course) specially with MSG or LGJ.

There are those who sing with the wonder in the word intact, and others who sing it nonchalantly as aparAma bhakti, and it sounds like aparAdha bhakti!
There are hundreds of songs, as kvchellappa says, where the word rAmA is emotive. mOhana rAmA he surely is.

Top1.rAma rAma rAmayanucu
in ennaganu Rama Bhajana- Panthuvarali
MSS - after the neraval and swaras , just before closing out the krithi , would float in a sea of emotions with her gut wrenching voice modulations .

Top2-9 . Somu - whenever he came across the word Rama in any song - or conversation .- or the name of an accompanist.

Top 10 . DKJ wetting our consciousness , like an inexorable tide of a sea wave , with his Ramayaa Rama+Kodanda Rama+ Pattabhabi Rama

Three singers who could transform the concert stage to a place of worship .

Though this research is never ending, two kritis flashed in my mind immediately.

Sikkil Gurucharan's -AvatAru ragupati- a kriti of AnnamAcharya in Kamas- the anupallavi and neraval on "rAma rAghavA rAma, rAmachandra prabho" was a real beauty. It was a concert in Triplicane temple, last year.

Second Somu's "Ninee nera nammi nAnu rA" in PantuvarAli- He starts with "nammi nAnura" and then pauses... then starts "ninee nEra"- Somu is always ecstasic. Ecstasic Somu brings ecstasic Raama...

Listen to Sikkil's avarAru..

My most favorite one doesn't include the word rAma in it, yet is unmistakably about him! The lines in question (yes, it is a very wordy nereval, but true to my nature, I find it wonderful) - 'sundarESa suguNa bRnda daSaratha nandana aravinda nayana pAvana' by Smt. MSS in the bhairavi piece of St. T's - EnATi nOmu phalamO....I get goosebumps, and a lump in my throat every time I listen to it...

My favorite Karaharapriya ragam kriti is Thyagaraja's '
rama nee samanamevaru'. I love this rendered by M.S. ,his Denuka kriti 'Teliya leru Rama' and I also like Arunachala kavi's Rama nataka kriti in Asaveri ' saranam saranam raghurama' .

The no. 1 kriti that comes to my mind too as a touching one, my favorite versions are SSI's (in my memory at least, I haven't heard it recently) and definitely Lalgudi Jayaraman's

Neduneri Krishnamurthy does the neraval on the pallavi line itself for this kriti and says it has a more appropriate meaning than 'paluku paluku'.

Nisha Rajagopal attempted neraval at "Rama Rama" while rendering Nee Daya Radha in Vasanthabhairavi recently. Was something new for me and was quite impactful.

dear Rasikas

Some singers used to insert "Rama" nama during kriti rendering where actually no 'Rama' word is used by the writer.

Can somebody throw light on this?
