The latest post in my blog

Post by erode14 »

Dear Members,

(I am sharing a recent post from my blog here. The first few lines are in thamizh. I have posted the translation of it in (blog) comments.)

The title is a song from the movie thiruviLaiyAdal which means leelA of the almighty. The line 'oorukku pazhi nErndhAl unakkinRi enakkillai' means, if at all any digrace happens to my city, it is a disgrace to you (God) only (since everything belongs to you) and not to me'

'aNNaa, i am so sad that you can't have dharshan tomorrow'

'so what, think that I am playing the mrudangam too, when you sing in front of the Lord.. cheers... you sang an awesome bhairavi today'

'pOngaNNaa...'

please read the rest here: http://erodenagaraj.blogspot.com/2011/11/blog-post.html

I am so sorry for all the aggravation you have suffered. I hope your blog and letter will change things, that they will have a sensitive contact person who can communicate intelligently and will make wheelchair access easy everywhere.

Dear Erode Sir,

I didnt know about you. I have enjoyed your "kadis" and jokes and your humour.
This is very pathetic..your experience at TTD. I can understand that most call centre executives are trained to be insensitive ( i am very convinced about this) and they are trained to repeat the same thing again and again and trained not to listen to the customer whoever he may and whatever his grievance be. This i understand because most of the call centre executives are ill equipped and they do not have any power to talk anything other than what is told to them. they cannot give their superiors number, they cannot give any address/telephone number of the organisation in fact they can do nothing other play repeated the recorded information..only in their voice...most of them are paid a pittance and they dont care.(i am not in favour of these) but a senior person at a managerial level..if he at the worst cant even listen to what the other person says..let alone understand and offer solutions..is downright pathetic and nothing short of sheer arrogance.....i felt terribly annoyed when the person made a laugh in between the conversation and at the end made a remark that YOU wasted his time.....one thing is the person getting overworked(?????????) and hence needs a break...i even could empathise with counter staff getting angry at times to the customers....but here the situation is different ...the artistes were the GUESTS of the sabha and they were invited by the sabha.....height of arrogance, inefficiency, indecisiveness ...the same person will fall head over heals to some cine artist/politician....they are not ignorant but arrogant.

I am sorry for what happened and I hope we all become more sensitive to differently enabled people's needs in India.
FYI: Dr.V.S.Sunder, a reputed mathematician, son of vainika Smt.Vidya Shankar and nephew of physicist Prof.Chandrasekar
writes about accessibility issues in TOI. Some of his talks/articles/efforts on this issue can be found at
http://www.imsc.res.in/~sunder/ in "Literary pursuits" section.

Someone in your comments mentioned that this is a "developing country."

Whilst I have no time for those that romanticise poverty, mistaking it for some sort of "spirituality" I have also no doubt that this rush for "development" seems to be forgetting all humane aspects of life in its rush to amass cash.

An economics lecturer once explained why he had left industry for the modestly-paid profession of teaching: "I don't mind if people rush past me in their ambition to reach the top, but I do mind that they feel it necessary to kick me in the head on the way."

Money/riches/development sometimes do seem to come in inverse proportion to simple human qualities, and I am afraid (with all due respect to the good people I know here and elsewhere who are also pious) that, often, so does religion.

It is hard for a person to make a stand against their employers. Good for you for having done so!

Venki occupies tiru malai
He's not in Erode--did I say that?
He is in him, with him, by him
Every time he finds his way to the stage

Each for him a trek of the ancients who
Braved wild animals and a trecherous path
For the darSan of the mighty vEngaDavan
Perhaps once in their life time...

Yet, showered with blessings is our Erode,
Taking a hazardous route stage ward
With the aid of the deity of the hills,
The divine periavar who walked among humans,

And by the light of his own wisdom...

Shri Erode Nagarajan,
Really felt sorry. IMO only our dirty politicians are fit and capable to tackle such arrogant officials. Forgive and forget.
with wishes,

Erode,
very sorry to hear about all the inconsiderate blabs for a simple question. No answer to your simple, direct question but something not connected to the question repeated like a parrot. A country may be a developing one ( I think India is a developed country now), but having consideration for another person is nothing new. We come from the land, where king Paari gave his chariot for a vine and emperor Shibhi protected a dove. Not helping someone who is in need - esp. somebody who is coming to perform for them, is really awful. I don't know what to say, but feel so sorry for you and others like you ( I am also partly in that category). May Lord Venkateswara give them good thoughts. I think you should write to the Devasthanam authorities or any other person in charge about all the problems you have to go through. May be Adhwani, who I heard , is going on a yatra can take this as part of his project!
