Music Academy Schedule - when is it out?

When will the schedule for MA for the season be out? What about the other sabhas such as KGS, Kalarasana, Nada Inbam etc

Thanks! Your diligence helps so many of us plan our stay and concert attendance in Chennai. If the newspapers let us down sometimes (with their omitting events or not giving correct information), you come to the rescue--and braindrain (K.P.Jayan in Bengaluru).
Such service from rasikAs like you is a plus for CM. Artistes and sabhas are also thankful, I hope.

Hope to see you in action this year too--I mean, on the concert stage.

Sorry to have to ask, but I have never been an Academy regular: could someone post a quick resume of which concerts are charged and which are free? Are the charged-for tickets only available that morning?

Great list...Sri Sikkil Gurucharan, KBMK, Abhishek Raghuram, Smt. Sumitra, Savita..mark the young brigade ..Smt. And the dance schedule looks delectable...Smt. Priyadarshini, Rama, Alarmelvalli, Ms. Malavika and Mythili...of the group performances, kalAkshETra's sItA svayamvaram is bound to be awesome. The mOhiniATTam by Smt. Varma on the five self-born maidens (assume they include sItA, draupadi etc.) seems very interesting.

Dont think you have to stand in the queue in the morning for the 15th evening 7 PM concert. The evening concert in the inagural day is usually "All are welcome". As per academy, the last two concerts of the day are ticketed ones and the first three are "All are welcome". And yes, the charged-for tickets for the evening ones, will be available in the morning of the respective concert.

Dear all,
I am a senior citizen who will be flying in to India from Europe. I am completely un aware about the procedures adopted in the Madras Music Academy. I will be needing a season ticket in the sabha as I am too weak to stand in the queues everyday early morning, as some of you have said that that is the only way to get the tickets.
So, can someone please tell me the procedurre to buy season ticket?
On which date will MA start issuing the tickets?
On that day also, should one stand in the queues early morning itself?
Will it issue season tickets to outsiders? Or, only members who already have are eligible for gettinng it?
Please help me and I am very sorry for putting to you all these silly questons. I lack knowledge about sabhas in Madras. So, kindly let me know answers to the same.

knata, welcome to the site! I'd help if I could, but, as you can see, even though I am a Chennai resident, I too am asking for this kind of info. The only thing I can say is that, during that period, if you close your eyes and enter a building, the chances are it will be a sabha, and a concert will be going on! . This is why I never became much of an Academy regular. Most of the artists will be performing elsewhere, and only with a handful does one run the risk of finding the seats sold out.

Probably one of the best concert schedules from Music Academy in recent times! Its noteworthy that all senior vidwans are in the morning slots and there are some great promotions too. Sending out positive vibes for the season! The lec-dem schedule is also diverse with many panel-discussions!

Lec-dems: more impressive than ever.

Instrumental concerts: very encouraging--vINai and nAyanam gaining recognition. I bet many of us are happy about it--and our own J&J giving a concert.

Do you mean the SK award giving ceremony by the MA or something else? If its the former, then it is traditionally during "Sadas", in the evening of Jan1st.

Season tickets for MA festival will be issued from 1st dec 2011.online booking is not there.details will be announced in the news papers on 1st december.rates like last year they said.dont know about last year rates.

Yes . Entry is free . If that is what you Meant . though , Over the years , a few of these sessions have ended up as " free for all " among the experts debating issues .
