I have been following this forum for a long time. Of late i am finding no concert reviews of Smt.Nithyasree appearing in this forum.I happened to attend her Bharat Sangeet Utsav concert on nov 3rd at NGS. I forgot ths songlist as it was a mediocre performance.Only her Poorvikalyani alapana and Viruttam in Nilambari were good. Oflate i am finding a steep downfall in her performances. Her performances when she was a budding artiste were standout. This was a feeling echoed by many fellow concert listeners. With age we see performers going in stature. But here we are witnessing a young musician who promised a lot going in a downward trajectory.Coming from a gr8 DKP/DKJ and PMI parampara this is indeed shocking.I went with a hope that "FORM is temporary and CLASS is permanent". But once again it was a disappointment. And this season as always she has record number of concerts and she seems very busy in appearing in ASSJ3 as judge.
I have nothing personal against Smt.Nithyasree nor am i against her appearance in a popular tv show. I am just making this post hoping that she may come back to form this season which will enthral all CM rasikas.
I felt her recent performance was somewhat okay at this venue. The relatively uncommon kritis featured and the nicely done Kalyanavasantham alapana went a long way towards making this concert enjoyable. Her previous two performances, at Rama Rao kala mantap for the Surya festival and at Narada Gana Sabha for the Bhakthi festival, were so dismal that I promised myself to stay away from her concerts. Unfortunately she has descended into the pattern of following her fans' taste rather than leading it. I still recall fondly the amazing performance she put up at the Gokulashtami festival a few years back that showcased her mettle and aesthetic sensibilities beyond any doubt.

Extremely well articulated. I completely agree with your analysis, Suresh.
In some sense, this is the opposite trajectory that people like Sanjay have embarked on over the years. I don't mean this as a comparison of two very different musicians, but just to illustrate that if you educated your base they will grow with you (not just in numbers).
I attended this concert. It was better compared to her earlier performance I viewed &heard in TTD channel. It is true that NM's voice has lost its magic but I feel the remnant of class still prevails. Her Poorvikalyani was v.good with a rare kriti of I think HMB - 'kritivAsase tejase namostute...'.The kalyAnavasantham exercise went in vain despite a good AlApanai due to a toothless kriti.May be her own composition bearing her husband's name - mahAdevan. Let us hope to see a renascent NM in this season.

Smt. Nityashree has been having her ups and downs recently. This year, I've heard her twice, and one concert was mediocre at best and the other was just pure class! I distinctly remember telling my friend 'she's in full form' that day. So, I really don't know!
