1) Sami Ninne - Panthuvarali Adi Tala Varnam - S
2) Vallabha Nayakasya - Begada
3) Ganamurthe - Ganamurthi - AS

5) Shri Subrahmanyaya Namasthe - Kambhoji - ANST
6) Theeradha Vilayattu Pillai - Ragamalika
7) Shlokam followed by Bhajan - Base Mere - Ragavardhini
The Panthuvarali Varnam provided a nice start with a brisk round of Swarams. The violinist's responses here were very good. Liked the leisurely exposition of Ganamurthi. Was a good effort to elaborate the Ragam without sounding repetitive. The one Avarthana Swarams exploiting the scalar nature of the Ragam coupled with Jarus were very good. Neelambari afforded a nice slow down. The Kambhoji was very elaborate and one could almost see the Dikshithar piece coming up. Trikalam was done on the first Pallavi line. Neraval and Swarams were done at Manasija Koti Koti at different speeds. The Tani was remarkable for Anirudh's dexterity in matching up to the senior Mrudangam artiste.
The Ragamalika and Bhajan concluded the nice concert..Smt Gayathri Girish's song lists offer something off-the-usual most times. Heard from a friend about an RTP in Gamanashrama at a concert in Mudhra yesterday..
Overall, liked the Ganamurthi Ragam for the ideas and the elaborate Kambhoji..

Sathej,
Missed meeting you there...
I've written about this concert in the Twitter--one of my best concerts so far. A pity, it was listed as starting at 5-30, and I walked in while Srikanth was playing the alApanA reply for Gayathri's (what I assume) rAga vistAram. The concert sparkled--a lovely voice with depth to it.
I like the way she pays attention to the lyrics and mouths them clearly. I still remember the way she sang inRu varuvAnO a couple of years ago. A composer's dream when it comes to understanding the lyrics and in the delivery of them...
