Fantastic concert by the brothers. Andal Kauthuvam was a new item. I had not heard it before. It gave a nice start to the concert. Nayaki composition was lilting and so was Ninnu Sevinchina in Yadukula Kambodi. Arun Prakash gave a superb support to this slow paced kriti. Shashikian acknowledged that it is very hard to accompany for such slow paced kritis and that Arun prakash did a very good job. Shashikiran's Hamsanandi raga alapana was very pleasing. Ninnu Sevinchina and Bhoogindra Shayinam offered a good contrast and variation in the tempo. Ganesh began the Suddha Danyasi Ragam followed by Tanam by Shashikiran which was really energetic. Later came up a string of ragas... Ganesh sang Nilambari , followed by Hindolam by Padma Shankar, then Shashikiran asked for audience choice of ragas... People came up with Shankarabharanam, Ananda bairavi. Ganesh sang these and traversed through the ragams in reverse, finally winding up with Suddha Danyasi. The pallavi was on lord Parthasarathi. They sang the pallavi in different speeds and had ragamalika swarams in Saveri, Suddha Saveri, Bangala, Suddha Bangala, Danyasi and Suddha Danyasi... The Thani avardanam played by Arun prakash and Suriya was good too. The pallavi on the whole sounded brilliant and the confidence and ease with which the duo presented it really needs tremendous appreciation. Kudos to them ! Though post pallavi they could sing only two compositions, they were very pleasant and gave a good conclusion to the concert !
