Was it Sri Nedanuri who came in whilst one of the brothers was singing the Kumudakriya alapana?

Thanks for the review. It was a wonderful concert. Power packed, not drifting from the traditional pattern. Very nice selection of songs. Kumudakriya alapana which we will not hear normally. Endundi vedalithivo is also not very frequently heard. Lakshanamula in Sudhasaveri is also a very rare piece. Their alapanas and pallavi all were very well presented with proper planning and execution. UKS Mridangam added a different flavour to the concert. His Mridangam playing for the tanam enhanced the aesthetic level of the concert signifactly. The huge academy hall was full for the concert.

Forgot to mention Kamajanaka- It is rarely heard even in Kerala. I have heard it only from Alathur Bros.It was very nice of the brothers to learn and sing the piece.

The list was very appealing - especially for old time rasikas....remember Althore's concert in Trichy with Lalgudi and Mani Iyer....."Enduhndi vedalithi o" - O man still feel goose bumps ....mridangam and the violin sang along with brothers.......remember vividly how SubbaIyer used to almost turn to the side of Mani Iyer while singing such songs......
Back to Malladi borthers' concert- traditional, neat and no unnecessary frills or gimmicks - (both physically or singing-wise).....

awesome concert, i attended and enjoyed every bit of it! With varadarajan and UKS Sir in the stage, it was a grand success indeed. A rare swathi thirunaal piece indeed set the expectation. They did sing suddha saveri keerthana before in few concerts before. Nedanuri garu was in front row, hearing with rapt attention, and applauding with other audience! Shankarabharanam was grand in all respects, and so was keerthana. The Keeravani RTP was very brief, may be 20 minutes? When they started alapana, it sounded more like sindhu bhairavi => kapi -> Simhendra madhyamam and then i was sure it was keeravani only!! would love to hear the alapana again to recheck why i felt so! The pallavi was in four kalai rupakam, with anulomam, pratilomam.

pattamaa- I agree with you. When they started Keeravani, there were glimpses of Sindubhairavi and Kapi.
S.Varadarajan was superb in his replies and solo alapanas.

Re: Malladi Bros. at Music Academy
Malladis' was a robust concert, I would say.
'Ardhanaareeswaram' impressed me much.
Th traditional version of the song Kaamajanaka (Goula)of Swati Tirunal as sung by yesteryear Vidwan C S Krishna Iyer and others is a bit different from what the brothers render (The Pallavi in particular). Wasn't that the Varnamettu?
