A stunning concert to packed hall for Kalarasana. Sanjay and Kalarasana concerts have been mesmerising (I still recollect that Baghesri RTP a few years back). This year was no different.

A nice nattakurunji with swaras followed by Darbar set the tone. But what followed was simply scintilating. Last year at the same venue the MASTER gave a glimpse of raga Priyadarshini in the RTP swaras. And this year a detailed song presentation followed a very soulful alapana was just grand.

Kalai Thooki is one my favourites and the MASTER has a very pleasing way of redering this. The Todi was majestic.

Then came the RTP in Saaranga with raga variation in the Tanam. One of my long standing wish was to hear Saaranga and was fulfilled yesterday.

A very good and absolutely satisfying concert.

I attended this concert too. The thodi was the highlight for me and I enjoyed the tanam sections in sahana and bhairavi a lot. Thanks to sridrect for the song list as I was unfamiliar with some songs, especially the one in Priyadarsini and todi.

Amba Nadu Vinnappamu is not rendered often today and has been rendered by Musiri Subramania Iyer. Musiri used to sing the neraval with a tinge of melodrama - Varahi, Vaishnavi, Sumangali ... I thought Sanjay opening shot for the neraval was a leaf out of Musiri's book.

This was an awesome concert with not a dull moment. I heard a good Todi after a long time. Sanjay was in full form!!

Wonderful swarams in Nattaikurinji. Tanjavur Ramadas has played exceptionally well for this piece.

mahavishnu strikes again ! Awesome clip! Is that last raga priyadarshini? See references about an Amjad Ali Khan created raga of same name. Does not appear to be the same.
