Had around 45 minutes of time at Luz Area and decided to go for Rithwick Raja (not sure about Rithwick spelling !!!) at Sastri Hall (4pm concert) for Kapali Fine Arts.
He was finishing Ahiri went I checked in. He then sang Bhogeendra Sayaninam. After that he launched into Harikamboji. (He sanga Dinamani Vamsa of Thyagaraja). It was a good attempt although he lost the sruthi a couple of times. After the alapana the violin vidwan started his alapana. At this point RR started chatting to the Mrindangam artiste. I thought of standing up and asking the violin to stop and ask RR "enna aachaa...." !!! (Well I am totally into the TMK MA thread and hence the influnce !!). After the chat he turned back and said "Bale Besh..." for the violin alapana.
1. His voice is very feeble and is totally drowned in the mrindangam sound
2. I felt he has an air about himself at this very early stage ( At the entrance the notice board print out had Vocal: RR (Disc of TM Krishna))

All this for the 15 odd minutes that I spent there. Then I checked into BGS and had a good experience of listening to Sreyas Narayanun.
1. Good, deep voice
2. Easily traverses the upper scales
3. He was singing Vasantha while I went and forgot the song
4. Then he sang kanna thaNDri nApai in Devamanohari
5. A beautiful alapana of Simmendramadhyamam followed by Rama Rama Gunaseema of Swati Tirunal with neraval.
I had to leave at that time. Can anyone throw more light on this vocalist ?
