For the eleventh consecutive concert my Christmas blossoms with sudha ragunathan. Always different ... No jingles.

1. Concert started with viriboni - bhairavi - ata thalam. Sang with ultimate bhavam. Bhairavi always signals a grand start..
2. Pranamamyaham - gowlai.
3. Aparada - lathangi . Nice crisp neraval and swaram in the charanam
4. Soulful dhanyasi ragam followed by maayuranatham ... Madhymakala swaras in aayul arogya aishwaryam.. shriramkumar's reply to the alapana and the swaram is just perfect..

Mohanam is d main... Captivating sancharas in lower octave... After mayuranatham a brisk pal vadiyum mugam in nattaikurunji followed... Just a small crib.. was expecting more round of kalpanaswaram in dhanyasi... My guess for Mohanam is nannu palimpa..

Beautifully elaborated the ragam... RKSK's replied very well.. during his solo he showed his class.. as expected it is nannu palimpa

Outstanding swaras in Mohanam... Rksk also played equally well... Loved the korrupu Swara combination.... After an electrifying thani she sang a thirupavai in hameer kalyani. A brisk krithi in ravichandrika (niravathi sukhada) followed..

Rtp was much awaited... Looks like she is going to sing the ranjani mala... She started with a beautiful ranjani and is now effortlessly singing mara ranjani..in the begining she sang some lightening phrases in jana ranjani and Sri ranjani.. rksk in his return shifted beautifully from raga showing the jeeva swarasd..

S kalyanaramans scholarly ranjani mala pallavi is being sung. The pallavi line is ranjani niranjani bhaktamanoranjani rasika janaranjani unadinarulal Sri ranjani. Sheer brilliance in the way she is singing it... Hardly sang tanam... Now this was a disappointment.. she could have sung tanam for couple of more minutes... But she has managed to compensate with this beautiful pallavi

i always attend smt.sudha's 25th morning concert at kgs for a while and then head to tnk. and i like rksk combination with sudha too. he seems to be playing a lot for sudha this season. the list is to die for. cant believe i missed out. any one else at the concert? who provided the percussion support?

I was there at the concert too... The dhanyasi was very beautifully rendered.. never heard SR render it before... Looks like new addition in her repertoire... I am not a big Mohanam fan but liked the Swara passage for the main... The highlight as the above person said was thy rtp... The way she and rksk moved from raga to another was brilliant... Overall a very satisfying concert where SR showed her vidvat... She was accompanied by tiruvarur vaidyanathan on the mridangam and R Raman on the morsing... Personally I am not a big fan of vaidyanathan.. he was good in patches... Mridangist need to understand that one doesn't need to be loud to show his vidvat. Unfortunately vaidyanathan falls in this category... He was very subdued and nice when played for the dhanyasi and the latangi krithis... But he was loud during Mohanam

thanks for the percussion artist names. thiruvarur vaidhyanathan and r raman have played so many concerts for smt.sudha and they sort of know her style. but i agree with shankarabharanam about the loudness part. he definitely has a very nice hand that can play fast shollus. but i definitely feel he lacks the sensitivity that an arunprakash or a j.vaidhyanathan exhibit in their concert.

In real terms ...there is no sowlabyam n sowkyam. It's sheer arrogance.. @ tiruvarur vaidyanathan banging style. P

Sudha Raghunathan is certainly the queen of music.
The list looks like the rasikas all have had a musical feast listening to her golden voice!

I too attended this concert, seems her best of this season so far But one needs to say, she as an experienced vidushi,
excelled against a few disturbances too; In the roof over her, there were kuruvis screeching, playing n pulling down dust &all;
And again a big fly(she said (Maattu EE)flying around her n disturbed her concentration; Finally when she was peaking
at Ranjani, the daily dose of power cut interrupted which made her lose considerable momentum.
