It was scheduled to be Sowmya's concert. Bharat Sundar replaced her at the last moment. There was a huge crowd expecting Sowmya.
Bharat has a very good masculine voice.Looks like he had throat problem.This was evident when he was singing in lower ocatve. He was good in middle and upper octaves.This is d first time i have heard him.

any announcement as to why sowmya could not turn up? i was planning to attend her concert tomorrow at partha. health issues im guessing? and i have heard bharath sundhar before. he is one of the better youngsters of today. there is a good batch of youngsters who seem to be making waves. they all seem to be good friends too. always spot them at the others concerts. bharath sundhar, rithwick raja, ramakrishnanmurthy, sriranjani (ney.santhanagopalan's daughter?), vidhya kalyanaraman. hope they are nurtured well and supported properly to make it big. i did hear bharath sundar at brahma gana sabha this season. i entered when he was singing sarasasamadhana with nereval and swarams. after that, he sang karahara priya. was not a fan of khpriya after kapinarayani considering they are extremely close. but he did justice to khpriya and seemed to sing with a lot of involvement. his voice was in decent shape and sang with considerable manodharma. he was well accompanied by narmadha, tvm. balaji and chandrashekhara sharma on the ghatam. there was a little strain in the upper registries and he did struggle to sound the same in the lower octaves. is that the same issue that he faced in this concert too? quite a bonus to have performed with seasoned accompanists like sri.narayanan and sri.purushothamam. all the very best to him.

Its me, KV Gopalakrishnan aka KVG played in that concert and not my friend Purushotham as mentioned here. And Bharat did sing wonderfully that day...
