Re: Raga Vaibhavam prog.in Mudhra
I attended this program which was well organised and useful for rasikas like me. Thanks to the efforts led by Dr. Radha.
Is it possible to organize a similar appreciation program separately for the Allied Ragas - Ragas which closely resemble each other for moderately informed rasikas or learning rasikas? like madyamavati/ sri, purvikalyani/ pantuvarali, bairavi/ mukari, nayaki/ durbar etc.,? focussing on differentiating these close ones...

Good idea Vijayakumar. In the past, such attempts have been made with partial success. One common trouble is, they do not target the right audience and sometimes make it too technical. I like your characterization of the target audience as "Moderately informed rasikas".
My thinking on the demonstration method is, first sing the common portions that cause the confusion and let the rasikas know that it is perfectly reasonable for them to have this confusion. Don't start off with a dismissive tone 'what is the problem.. see this is raga X, this is raga Y.. where is the confusion'. Please do not do that. Once the common portion is established, then sing the portions that clearly distinguish them. Here is where the Demonstrator has to be very well prepared. Focus on the low hanging fruit, namely, the lakshanas that are quite distinct in the respective ragas without any trace of ambiguity. Once that is established with ample examples, they can then focus on the confusing middle where it can get a bit fuzzy.
I think Dr. Radha Bhaskar understands such audiences very well and can pull it off brilliantly in an appropriate fashion.
