The Music Academy mini-hall has been entirely refitted. I went to what was said to be its inaugural concert (Prema Rangarajan) a few weeks ago. The whole building has been done up. Toilets are as in five-star hotels!
Maybe Season rasika's are so rambunctious that they have trashed it already! ]

Not only the toilets, even the hall looks like a 5-star one. Bilahari, the outside shell remains the same(If you are referring that, but the interiors have changed completely)
Vijay Siva sang beautifully - neraval in rAma nIyeDa was the highlight for me. Tomorrow morning will be TNK at MA, and hopefully I'll be able to catch PP at Musiri's house in the afternoon amidst other commitments.
Listening to elaborate Ennallu uruke (Subhapanthuvarali) twice within three hours can be tiresome or enlightening. It depends on the way the raga is handled. Saketharaman (at Brahma Gana Sabha) in the company of Mysore Manjunath, Mannargudi Easwaran and N Guruprasad was very different from the version provided by Sandeep Narayan (Charusar Arts Foundation) with S Varadarajan, VV Ramanamurthy and Guru Prasanna. We enjoyed listening to both the versions.
Thank you all for the 'twitter', reviews and information on concerts. The 'bus information', update on sabha or hall improvements--everything feels 'real'.
It gives all of us who have not been able to make it to the 'season', the feeling of a 'live telecast' of the event!

Mohan, I'm afraid I will not make it to Sangeetha's concert. Aside from shopping trips, the other Chennai activity: obligatory visits to [really] extended family.

Been changing my mind all day. Rama Varma and TVG was so tempting --- but I have have had a nagging discomfort at missing Suryaprakash's recent concert that got rave reviews here, and settled for that in the end. This one was not a marathon: it was restricted in length by the over-running of the previous artist, but it was, none-the-less, magnificient.
I heard a rumour of some Londoners, dance and music, performing at BVB tomorrow morning at 10.30. Shame on them for not letting me know they were coming! So it is another big effort not to be nocturnal tonight, and make an early start tomorrow.
I fear that I am in danger of becoming a one-artist member, but I don't think it is possible that anything can beat the golden glow of Smt Vedavalli's Naada Inbam concert.
Lalgudi Srimathi Brahmanandam gave a lovely concert @ MA.... Beautiful "thiruvaDi CaraNam" and a brilliant kAnaDA RTP... Got to learn some lovely pallavis this season.... Bilahari, i might join you in the evening...

I am expecting the Video DVDS of our Rasikas meet 2011 in another 2 days.
I have attended only the Violin duet concert of the Mysore Bros at KGS yesterday and met our forumite Sri Harikrishnan from Muscat.
The main idea of our Global Rasikas Meet was to know other forumites in person so that whenever we read a post in our thread, we can always try to remember the face of our friend.
I do know that by attending the concerts in the city now, we can identify many other forumites.
With my present health conditions, I may be able to attend one or two concerts only and hope to meet a few of our forumites.
I would like Bilahari, Emilija, Priyadharshini, Jayaram and a few other members may speak to me on my mobile if they are free and in Chennai..
I got up early to go to BVB and see a dear old young friend from London playing mridangam for various dance groups from London and Sri Lankka. It was great to see old friends that I have not seen for three years. Some of the dance was very beautiful too
The storm looks imminent. An unwanted event during the last phase of the music season, but nothing can be done. Request all to take utmost care during and after the storm crosses the coast.
After a heartwarming concert by TVS, I stepped out to a windy and drizzling outside and spent the rest of the day slushing around in the chagadi (mud) of Mylapore, Velachery, and Madipakam while visiting family. Then I called it a day.
If I am up to it tomorrow, I hope to attend NSG's Kalarasana concert.
FYI, Rajna Swaminathan accompanies Sri. Maruti Prasad on Dec 30 for Music Academy @noon concert. But I am not sure of the weather impact there now . . .
I've thought about it in previous years, but never got around to it. No, this year I won't be thinking of it even --- just of Suguna Varadachari. So, unless another cyclone turns up, we'll meet again before your departure, which is nice.
My season is officially done after two great concerts in a row. Bilahari main from Ramakrishnan Murthy and bhairavi from Smt. Suguna V. Couldn't ask for a better end to 2011!
On a separate note, it's been great fun catching up with many forumites this season.
Did any one attend today's(Dec 31,2011) Shri TNS concert at MFAC-6pm, may I know what time the concert started please? If anyone attended please review the crt in a seperate kutcheri review thread.
