Oru kAl siva cidambaram was in Arabhi. BB sang the tiruppugazh well.
B.Balasubrahmanyam is a very talented musician. He was a favourite of both Viswa and Smt. Brinda. He should recognise the fact that he is now one of few legatees to the precious heirlooms of the dhanammal family.
In the song kantimati karuNamIra, one of the highlights [for me] is the glide in karuna - S S\ (n)P. This is the most delectable phrase in kalyAni, and I get goosebumps even thinking of how Smt. Mukta would sing the pure S notes for 'ka-ru'. BB sang the phrase differently, with gamakas.
The glory of the music of dhanammal's descendants is not just in singing padams or jAvalis. it is in the super-fine pAtAntaras, with clusters of microscopic anuswarams and judicious use of plain notes and gamaka-invested phrases.
Any reports of what he sang at the academy the next day..?
I heard him at the RK convention centre concert, where he sang Ninnu vina gati (kalyAni), dalacinavAru (dhanyAsi) and samamyamide (behAg) besides some other songs. I sincerely hope BB sings more of the Brinda-Viswa songs, and more of Viruttams and tiruppugazh in their style.

In the Music Academy, Balasubramanian presented Bajana Parula in Surati, Meenakishi memudham in Purvikalyani (Viswa style) , a lilting Paiyadha in Nadhanamakriya and Mosajesene in Sindhubhairavi among othes pieces. In my opinion Mosajesene is THE ultimate sindhu bhairav.....
