It was an amazing concert by T.N.S.Krishna. He was accomapanied by Delhi P.Sunder Rajan on violin and Neyveli Narayanan on mridangam. The concert stood testimony to his high standard in all the aspects presented. The concert commenced with Kedaragowla varnam followed by Sri Maha Ganapathi Ravathumam of Deekshitar in Gowla. Next he explored the raga Darbar very well and sang the kriti Yochana of Thyagarajar and embellished it with kalpanaswarams. That was followed by Tharunamidamma of Syama Sastry in Gowlipantu. Then came the main piece of the concert, RTP in three ragas Brindavana Saranga, Thodi and Mohanam in Sankeerna jati triputa talam. It was a marvelous pallavi set in three ragas with the words, "Sri Krishnam Narayanam Soundara Rajam Asraye Brindavanattil Mohana kuzhalodu ninai todi arulum". Incidentally, the pallavi included the names of the three artistes on stage, vocalist(Krishna), mridangist(Narayanan) and Violinist(Sunder Rajan). In both the first part and the second part of the pallavi, all the three ragas were executed. Alapanai for the three ragas was sung extensively and the tanam which included sruti bedam was of high order. There are no words to describe the way the pallavi was sung. One needs high caliber and experience to execute such a tough pallavi on stage. Both in neraval and swaram the ragas were changed one after another very skilfully. The audience were spellbound and he received a very loud applause from the audience.
The last part included two tamil compositions in Subhapantuvarali and Ragamalika.
Overall the concert was very much enjoyable and will be an unforgettable experience to the listeners.
