Ganesh & Kumaresh in MA on 30th Dec.

Post by grsastrigal »

I browsed the souvenir of MA - Ganesh Kumaresh – are going to give performance of their own compositions on 30th Dec 11
in Music Academy

Ganesh & Kumaresh- Violin Duet
VV Ramamurthy-Ghatam
Giridhar Udupa-Ghatam

List:
rAgapravAham- mAyAmalavagowla – Composer Ganesh & Kumaresh
mAnasa guruguha – Ananda bairavi – Dikshitar
rAgapravAham-yadukula kambodhi- Composer Ganesh & Kumaresh
dAsarathi – Todi –ThyagarAjar
rAgam, tAnam, pallavi – amrut kalyAni-

-Is MA putting any restrictions to render/play their own compositions ? or is it again
MA lobby ?

-What did they achieve to be eligbile to render their own composition in MA ?

-Did any one try this previously ? singing own composition ?.

-Anybody can tell me more about amrut kalyAni ?

-What is the message we get for artists like Bombay Jayashree who rendered beautiful
varAli (mAmava), Shankarabharanam (swara rAga) and Abheri RTP yesterday in MA ?

Does Music Academy frame any rule before that the musicians should not play their own compositions?

Who are we to decide or on what musicians should play?

There are lots of musicians who sing or play RTP with pallavi being their own compositions?

I think that the Music Academy, for season concerts, insists on a song list, and frowns on those who depart from it. So there you go: implicit approval.

Ganesh and Kumaresh are known for composing, and for some experimentation in presentation too. Dare I try my hand at saying, "Enna problem?" ;)

It's a long story. I believe it starts when one of them was just two years old...

Those who can compose beautiful compositions compose and present their own compositions, those who cannot compose, present the compositions of others. It is as simple as that.

Shri Ganesh and Shri Kumaresh will be Sangeetha Kalanihdhis one day and that explains why Music Academy has given them a slot to perform.

I attended the concert. It was an intellectual musical experience.

The RTP was in raagam Amirtha Kalyani. Arohanam was that of Amrithavarshini and Avarohanam was Kalyani. It was an Audava Sampoorna Raagam. They had chosen Audava sampoorna raagams for the Ragamalika swaram. The raagams that they played were Karnataka Devagandhari, Saveri, Bilahari and Kalyana Vasantham

priyaravi1998, the two cases above are true in its literal sense...not to nitpick...but it should be pointed out that it is not necessarily true that those who do not present their own compositions can not compose. Important distinction to make.
