RTP (anbinAl nAm ulagaiALalAm unmaiyAna nErmaiyAna) - kApi - kanda triputa - Self composed?
Had to leave when he was starting swarams in kApi.
It was a good concert and his voice was in full form. He did a mandra sthayi tAnam in kApi (vocal + violin ragam & tanam together were around 13 - 14 mins, not more than that). BUGP would have been a good precis writing student I think, his raga essays were sweet and short especially for atAnA & kApi. Percussion for aTanA & asAveri songs were excellent IMO. Tani was a little loud for my comfort. I also felt that he went overboard with the last-long-round swaras for simhaVahini and the N for nArayanagowlai (N went on and on and marred the beauty of the song till then). To his credit though the entire crowd lapped up the long neraval and gave a loud applause.
I soon anyday expect him to do a alapanai for asAveri for this song and a N@caraNayugamunandu sukhamAnjanEyEyuniki. I am sure that this place has immense potential to do a beautiful neraval.
Two points (non music) related
Concert started 15 mins late. Unless there was a valid reason this is inexcusable.
When the organizers where about to give the mAlai mariaadhai after nArayanagowlai, he asked till what time is the concert supposed to go on and then said if that is the case, I can get at the last. No prob. But the next comment was not in good taste - 'neenga aathukku pOradhAnA ippavE koduthudungO'. It could be a perfect case of being playful/jovial but I believe the tone/body language didn't convey playfulness/joviality and I felt it was a little bit of rasakkuraivu.

He sang swaras at Kapi,Brindavana Saranga and Madhyamavathi.
He sang 2 tukkadas and mangalam after that.
Hey govindu hey gopalu - Kambodhi . I think TMK sang this in JayaTv.(not sure)
Janaki Ramana -Kapi .
Sri Ramachandranuku - Mangalam.
After finishing Hey govindu, he was thinking what to sing next and discussed with his Tambura player. After starting Janaki Ramana he stopped for a while and then said u all drink more than one Coffee daily so it is ok and sang this.
I went in when he was singing Lekana Ninnu. He sang a superb NarayanaGowlai and Tanam was out of world.A good concert with some usual 'Krishnaisms'.

I have found Poongulam's playing to be agreeable, except when he wants more amplification.

In India, there is this well-known and almost accepted concept of Indian Standard Time (IST)
even at work, no one comes to meetings on time !
