The established norm in any concert is thani after the main.Why it was not given in this concert? no explanation.

What was the main item in this concert? Kalavati kamalasana in Yagapriya? Item no 3? Probably too early for tani. Pl excuse this whole incident as a small flare up following a slightly non-standard type of concert. All the artistes here are bigger musicians than most of us, and they would sort this out and get on with their lives. We need not ascribe too many motives to such actions.

Just because the artists are bigger musicians, it does not mean that as a rasika, one does not have the right to express our opinion on what is clearly a transgression of established practises and a deliberate attempt to downplay the role of the percussionist in their concert. This kind of kutcheri model should not become the norm and hence the opinion. If this is the treatment meted out to a senior mridanga maestro, I can only guess the treatment given to lesser accomplished accompanists.

If the whole incident was as innocous as it is made out to be - a mere faux pas on the part of the brothers, the brothers could have clarified their position later. Silence is what I hear.

All the arguments for and against UKS and Malladis are speculative!!
The very next day after the concert, three of them were seen in SVB having lunch together.
Do not therefore keep speculating and spinning arguments, instead turn your energies to more productive stuff!!!!

The news conveyed in the above post do not necessitate change of any single word in my posts.which means that there is no speculation.Speculation , (if you want one), will be to imagine as to how they met at the SVB, who fixed the rendez vous , how, what was spoken before fixing the rendez vous or during the lunch etc etc.which definitely is a futile exercice.
The issue here transcends the individuals. The 3950 viewers of this thread are not கோழிச்சண்டை spectators nor frivolous readers of suspense thrillers eagerly awaiting the "end " declared by fduddy for turning their energies to other productive stuff.
