vandisu - nATa - khaNDacApu - PD (sketch, few rounds of S)
kaNDajUDumi - vAcaspati - Adi - T (R, NS @ alanADu saumitri)
enta muddu - bindumAlini - Adi - T
tatvameruga taramA - garuDadhvani - rUpakacApu - T
Emi jEsitEnEmi - tODi - mishracApu - T (R, NS @ varamantramulanu)
karuNAnidhiyE - malayamAruta - rUpakacApu - PD
marugElarA - jayantashrI - Adi - T
anupamaguNAmbudhi - aThANa - khaNdacApu - T
raghuvara - pantuvarALi - Adi - T (R, NS @ manasuna)
tani
harismaraNa - ? - Adi - PD (sounded like some jhanjhUTi or something)
sItAkalyANa vaibhOgamE - kuRinji - khaNDacApu - T
an extremely famous Kannada composition in tishragati Adi, sindhubhairavi
mangala viruttam for Thyagarajaswamy in sAvEri, hindOLam, Anandabhairavi, bEgaDa and madhyamAvati
pavamAna sutuDu - saurAShTra - Adi - T

It was a lovely concert. Sri Shankar's AlApanais were all totally crisp, as one would expect after his Patnam "Ekavaggeyakara" concert. Even the main pantuvarALi didn't get drag into 15 or 20 minutes, and was done neatly in 10 minutes or so.

I thoroughly enjoyed the vAcaspati AlApanai. It was very dignified, like indeed the whole concert.

Neravals were again mostly in samakAlam and mElkAlam only, further adding to the crisp and "dense" nature of the concert. There were many swarams sung in 5s and 7s, but they all came very naturally.

Smt Nalina Mohan's bowing is forceful to an uncommon degree, and her playing is clean, and very naturally vocal-like. Her responses to Sri Shankar's neravals, especially, took off EXACTLY where Sri Shankar left. It was very noticeable during the vAcaspati, maybe since it was the first neraval. She even played "ndd" where Sri Shankar sang a "grsnd" kind of phrase in tODi, and I prefer the jaNTai there. However, during the pantuvarALi, Sri Shankar concluded many of his phrases with a tinge of ma where as Smt Nalina's respones stopped at pa -- I preferred the tinge of ma. Her swaram replies were also in line with Sri Shankar's. Perhaps in the koraippu for pantuvarALi she could have avoided some total replication, but that never hinders.

Sri Ramani sang some tArasthAyi portion in the AlApanais. I liked his contribution in the pantuvarALi AlApanai. His neravals meandered a little bit, but in general he sang very competently and supportively.

The percussion department supported others very cooperatively. The tani was very elaborate, maybe even a highlight of the concert. The mridangam's shruti was a little less, but that didn't much hinder the enjoyability of the tani.

The ambience and sound settings were also very apt and made the concert all the more relishable.

Hari Smarane, I am told is Yaman Kalyani.

Ramani, for those who do not know, is Sri.Shankar's son who provided good vocal support.

Tani was indeed electrifying. The spirit of the artists catches up with the audience. On completion, several among the audience stood up and clapped, which went on for an unusually long time. Such involvement of the accompanying artists definitely makes the overall concert experience much better.

Very enjoyable concert
I really liked his Thodi and his short alapana for darbari kaanada was delightful.
Thani started well but picked up momentum and it was torrential downpour at the end.

Braindrain,

Thanks for giving the full post-main list: I've also missed the mukhAri number (pAlisamma muddu shAradE, in Adi tALam) just before main, with a very brief AlApane.

I think the rAgam between sAvEri and Anandabhairavi in the viruttam was hindOLam, though neither hindOLam nor AbhEri would arrest me in between a sAvEri and Anandabhairavi, so I could well be wrong. At least, if it was AbhEri, I daresay it must have been with D1.

Great way to start this year for me,great concert.
Bangalore Shankar never disappoints. I really like the way he gives importance for Neraval singing.
Ramani Shankar is definitely a promising artist.
