For the benefit of those who do not have access to 'THE HINDU', NOSTALGIC MEMORIES OF P.S.NARAYANASWAMI. Nostalgia apart, PSN has presented this article with reference to great vidwans and some jokes

Great person. Saw him at so many, many concerts this year, wonderful that he still "listens" inspite of being such a much sought after teacher.

Thanks for the pointer to the article! A very nice read.

I sat next to him at Abhishek Raghuram's kutcheri in Narada Gana Sabha this season (perhaps in the vain hope that, just like energy is transferred through the air by inductive coupling, merely being in his "vidwat" field would induce some musical energy in me) :) Whether it had an effect remains to be seen  , but it was amazing to watch close up how much he appreciated and enjoyed the concert… As they say, nothing pleases a teacher more than watching his student excel. Needless to say, by that measure, he can have that feeling by walking into any of the kutcheris taking place in Chennai… it is statistically likely that the artist is one of his students! :)

Yes, hence my sentence "As they say, nothing pleases a teacher more than watching his student excel."
