Vid. Sowmya and team rendered a very different and difficult concert. Various aspects of how ragas can be "allied" were explored. Some of them were similar in raw scales, some of them employed different phrases, the tanam & Pallavi were ragas that had the same poorvangam. The concert was very well structured given that the musicians came from different schools, yet they jelled well and the transitions were so nice is indeed a tribute to the planning and effort. I liked the YK/K/HK piece and the Tanam/Pallavi very much. Hats off to the team! Sowmya explained the how each set of ragas were "allied" before each piece and it was indeed very educative. Well, I felt - if I had only more knowledge to appreciate..... :)

gardabha_gana,
That's right. It was both a different and difficult concert to present. Kudos to Sowmya and the team. Dr. Narmada added so much to the beauty of the rAgams with her violin. Needless to say, the hindusthAni orieentd rAgams in particular.
