I attended Priya Sisters concert organised by Nanganallur Sri Thyagaraja Sangeetha Samajam as a part of their Thyagaraja Aradhana celebrations. It was a housefull concert with the sisters in full form. They sang a brilliant karaharapriya and Ganamoorti. Post main they sang many of the crowd fauvorites. The accompanists were simply brilliant. Raghavendra Rao's bowing followed the sisters faithfully and Patri and Murali played a ballistic Tani. Patri in particular was extraordinary.

Post main were all Priya sisters regular numbers. They sang many of them due to audience request. the concert was to end at 9 pm. but the sang till 9:30. The crowd thoroughly enjoyed listening to them. I personally liekd their ganamoorte rendition. it was sung with so much bhavam. Their chowka kaala rendition of Vazhi maraithirukudu was also very moving.It was a complete paisa vasool concert.

Ha Ha. Well Priya Sisters concerts are always so.. Whether the concert is ticketed or not.
I remember hearing Kharaharapriya in Bangalore last yr when they sang Chakkani Raaja. It was wonderful.
Hope i get to hear Gaanamoorthe sometime with raaga alaap. Impressive list of kritis.
At times i do feel that the audience should allow them to sing new post tani compositions rather than asking them to sing the same kritis again and again..

7. vazhi maraittirukudu?

yaah...vazhi maraithirukudu..maadu paduthirukudu...it is a composition of Gopala Krishna bharathi.. I guessed it should be from Nandanar Charithram(going by the lyrics of the song). but not sure. Someone please clarify on this.
