Needed: Viruttam
Hello all,
Can anyone let me know how many of the Nalayira Divya Prabandhams are composed in praise of Lord Venkateswara at Tirupati? What are they?
Regards
Karthik

Thanks for the info
The site gives the list of hymns composed by the saints at different kshethrams. How can I get the hymns.? (I mean the sahithyam.)

Re: Needed: Viruttam
There are so many viruttams in the files that you mentioned. I am actually looking for just one which would be apt choice before singing the krithi Balagopala Palayasumam (Bhairavi-Muthuswamy Deekshithar)

Periyazhwar has written the most number of pasurams on young Krishna and his antics. Since the kriti starts with 'Balagopala', one of these verses on young Krishna might be suitable:
maittaDankanni yaSOdai vaLarkkinRa
Seittalai nIla niRattuc ciru piLLai
neyttalai nEmiyum Sangum nilaviya

Another alternative is these two verses from amalanaadipiraan - these have been rendered as viruttam often and you should be able to get a recording, though I am not sure if you will find a version set to bhairavi: the first verse refers to balakrishna floating on a banyan leaf and the second one refers to Gopala (Kovalan).
Ala mA marattin ilai mEl oru bAlakanAy

TRS has sung this brilliantly
krishno rakshatu no jagat-traya-guruh krishnam namadhvam sada
krishnenakhila-satravo vinihatah krishnaya tasmai namah
krishnad eva samutthitam jagad idam krishnasya daso 'smy aham
krishne tishthati visvam etad akhilam he krishna rakshasva mam
may dovetail well into the krithi

Varsha, it's beautiful, but I think the OP clarified that he wanted a true viruttam, i.e., one in tamizh.

oh ! did not notice refining of specs
is it ok to sing viruttam in one language and krithi in another .
not that the Lord would mind
I mean, has any one does this before ?

Yes, the classic example that comes to mind is Smt. MSS singing the SlOkam karacaraNakRtam in sanskRt in a viruttam format, followed by SambhO mahAdEva in tamizh....varsha wrote:is it ok to sing viruttam in one language and krithi in

In particular, the hymn 1075. starting with 'paLLiyil ' ..is very good. Story of Prahlada.
