Outstanding concert by the brothers.
All songs were rendered nicely.
Mike problems here and there were the only one to crib about.
Ravikumar's Mukhari alapana was fabuluos. He continued with delightful phrases during neraval.
Thani by Kamalakar rao and karthik was very good, to end a beautiful Mukhari.
Karthik supported him so well, by allowing him to play for more time.
Initially he had problems with his mridangam, but got it fixed just before panthuvarali.

Brilliant Mukhari alapana, standing out in a a very good concert. Only regret ... no RTP. The brothers usually make it a point to include atleast a 20-25 min RTP. Don't know what happened.

I have not heard KamalAkar Rao playing at all, other than few TRS recordings. Is he continuing his magic touch, any pointers there .
Glad to see that rare and wonderful subbarAya sastri's mukhAri is taken as main.

KamalAkar Rao played beautifully.
Karthik also prompted him to play more, so the thani was little bit long but was very good.
Definitely worth it.
A very measured performance.
Both rotated nicely on neraval and swaras for vocal and violin,
instead of sticking to one performer.

Thanks for the corrections, Jayan.
I entered when they were finishing kalyani varnam.
I was physically sitting there after the thani, mentally was occupied by that brilliant mukhari.
I really wanted Ravikumar to finish both neraval and swaras.
He had more sowkhyam rendering mukhari. It was really honey dipped.
Sorry for lots of adjectives.

Oh absolutely. He wasn't happy with the tuning ( if we can say so) with the instrument. Had his assistant ( possibly a shishya) to take it back to the green room and set it back again, during the pantuvarali alapana. From that point, it was a different experience. He wasnt still very happy I thought with the sound ( ( he continue to make minor adjustments through out), and was trying to achieve the perfection to his satisfaction. The taniavartanam was brilliant , and one should thank Kartick for this. His fingers were as nimble and fast as a youngster. It was a great experience watching and listening to him playing.rajeshnat wrote:Is he continuing his magic touch, any pointers there .

Kamalakar Rao, a busy hotelier (used to be?) whose mrudangam speaks for itself. Heard him for the first time in the US about thirty years or so ago. A gentleman and a gentleman player.
After a gap of many years, I heard him again, and was mighty pleased with his playing.

Arasi, he is still very much a hotelier who has refused to leave Rajahmundry for the bright lights of Chennai.
Such a wonderful nadham he has. The gentlest of the giants from the PMI shishya parampara.
Look forward to his presence in Cleveland this year, where he is being honoured.

This indeed was a memorable concert. Does anyone have a recording of this that you are willing to share. Thanks.
