National Conference on Appreciating Indian Music
Mudhra conducts a National Conference on “Appreciating Indian Music” on 3rd, 4th and 5th March 2012 at Infosys Hall, RKM School, Bazullah Road, T.Nagar. This conference will focus on the different genres of Indian Music and how to appreciate it. The programme will be inaugurated by N.Gopalaswami ( Former Chief Election Commissioner). Noted singer Vani Jairam will be Chairperson for the seminar. The inaugural day will have a unique concert by O.S.Arun which will blend different genres of Indian music. On 4th March, the session starts at 10a.m with a panel discussion on the form, content and social impact of different genres of music. Dr.S.A.K.Durga will be the moderator and M.D.Muthukumaraswamy (Director, National Folklore Support Centre), Rajkumar Bharathi, Dr.Radha Bhaskar and music director Sherreth will be the panelists. At 11.30a.m, a lec-dem on the “The Folk Music of Kerala” will be presented by Dr.Omanakutty ( Secretary, Sangita Bharathi). The post-lunch session will have demonstrations on “Music Score for films” by a popular film music director and “Karnatic and Hindusthani Music” by Dr.M.Narmada. At 4p.m, there will be a panel discussion on “Film Music – Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow.” The speakers are Vani Jairam, Ramesh Vinayakam, Issai Mazhalai Ramji and M.Kalyan. At 6p.m, “Tribute to legends of North and South” will be presented by Sridhar Navrags troupe who will render melodies from Hindi and Tamil films sung by Mohammad Rafi, Mukhesh, Kishore Kumar, Lata Mangeshkar, Asha Bhonsle, T.M.Soundarrajan, P.B.Srinivos, P.Susheela, S.Janaki and Vani Jairam.

I have a general question for you: Do you record (audio and/or video) the programs that Mudhra organizes? It would be lovely if they were, and made available (commercially) to the hordes that missed the live program...

I second rshankar. It will be of great help to those living in other countries and are not fortunate to witness the entire program. Even clippings of video version in youtube will be of immense help.
