It was an old recording played again.I vaguely remember having listened this concert somewhere in 85 or 86.
The concert stirred certain emotion because none of the great accompanists - kOvai dhakshinAmurthy,pAlghat raghu or G.harisankar is alive today.
The concert had 4 items.
1.Etijenma - varALi
2.tuLasi bilva - kEdara gowLai - (R,S,T)
3.tungA theera - sAlaga bhairavi
4.tAm tAm - kamAs - tillAnA - PSI
I always liked kOvai D for his effortless bowing and speed. The first time I listened to him was in dec'84 in MA when he played for BRI.He sang Bhairavi rtp and KD's reply was amazing. After wards I listened to many concerts mostly in AIR and a few live kutcheris. The one kutcheri that I remember is the one in sastry hall('85)- a dikshidar akhanDam from 9 - 9 where he played for thAdapaLLi lokanatha sarma. In between the poorvi kalyANi Alapanai LS started coughing and signaled KD to play and he played the rAgam beautufully all himself.
The tani by PR and GH was mind blowing.I remember my elder brother's letter to me once where he had described GH as 'hari sankar - pori (fire sparks) sankar after listening to him play for Flute NR in delhi.
A kutchei that put me into a nostalgic trip.

Ganesh, It was a nice sail through nostalgia posted by you. It is appreciable that you remember the minute details relating to the concerts heard in the eighhtees. IIRC, the above concert is part of a live concert released commercially.

There is another AIR recording (not sure if it is part of this recording itself) with the same team consisting of Mundu Venuga, Ni Chittamu, and Tulasi Bilva. One of the best kedaragowlas I have heard till date !! Raghu Mama's magic touch - divine !!!
