It was a short but good concert. Both brothers have a deep voice that's a pleasure to listen to. The varnam was a beautiful composition and I heard it for the first time. The way it was structured, the way the swarams were composed (with the beautiful "poruththams" with charanam etc), brought out the 'gait' of Gambhira Nattai very nicely. BMK was in the audience and that made this and the next piece extra special. I heard ragam "Siddhi" for the first time as well and just like BMK's other brainchild Mahathi, this was a Swarantara too and goes SR2PD2S and same way back. In parts it briefly reminded me of both Shivaranjani and Shuddha Saveri. They sang a short round of kalpana swarams at the pallavi. Ganesh then sang a sketch of Malayamarutham and the brothers followed that with Manasa etulo. It was at a measured, deliberate pace and extremely enjoyable. Neraval was rendered in 2 speeds at kalilo rajasa tamasa followed by swaram. There were some nice poruththams (building on grs; rsn; snd; (ndp: kalilo) ) Shri Nagai Muralidharan played a very beautiful kuraippu ending at dha each time. This piece was followed by a brief sketch of Huseni by Ganesh and then Nagai Muralidharan. The vilamba kala krithi was quite satisfying. I think the next piece Swagatham Krishna was an audience request and was very enjoyable too. What followed was the main piece in Kedaragowla. Ganesh sang a breezy and beautiful alapanai although for some reason I found it a bit atypical - probably because he didn't emphasize much on the ni. I thought NM made up for that with many pauses at ni (with and without gamakam) especially towards the end. Swaram was sung at shatadhruti poojitha but there was no neraval which was a bit disappointing. The swarams were interesting nevertheless, sung in kizh kalam, tishra nadai and then mel kalam (chturshram). Shri Shivakumar's thani that followed was very enjoyable.
Ragi thandiro was interesting since I'd only heard it in Ahir Bhairav earlier. I think this was a request from the audience too. The thillana was an appealing one with use of the shatshruthi dhaivatham in the anupallavi.

Overall, a very good concert by the main artists as well as the accompanists which could have been even more fulfilling had it been longer (this was less than 2 hrs). The main piece was more like a submain (especially because of lack of neraval) and left me asking for more.
