I found some raga names linked with "Sikh Kirtan" and "Guru Granth Sahib". One is Raga Gauri. (Some more here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ragas_in_t ... anth_Sahib ). I dont find any deeper infos about (origin, ascending/descending scales etc...)
-----------------
All what I got is this: Gauri has the largest number of composition which cover about 14 per cent of the total number of pages of the Scripture (Gurū Granth Sāhib Ji). It contains two important compositions of Guru Arjan, Sukhmani and Bavan-akhri (acrostic). As it is a serious raga, the Gurus have given herein the exposition of profound concepts like fear, consciousness, soul and salvation. There are a large number of variants of this raga... (Source: Siknet.com)
More details: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gauri_%28raga%29
-----------------
So fare I know there exist different forms of Raga Gauri (e.g. Gauri Sukhmani, Gauri Kalyan, Gauri Bhairav) ???
Any sources, mored etails, variations, and listening examples (links for downloads, CD releases etc. ...) would be very helpfully.
Tks in advance giving attention and for your support... SM2010

Re: Raga Gauri
The Gauri mentioned there should obviously be different in Hindustani from that of Carnatic. So far as I know, only MD has composed kritis in it.
