Webcast of Tukkada concert -Bombay Sisters

Post by radha bhaskar »

Glad to inform that there will be a webcast tomorrow (22nd april) of the "Tukkada concert' performed by Bombay Sisters. Listen to a spectacular variety of songs performed by them in Mudhra's Tukkada Festival held in the year 1999. For more details - http://www.samudhra.org/ads/22nd%20april%202012.jpg

It was a nice gesture on the part of MUDHRA that they webcast the above concert. I thank them on behalf of all the music lovers for this inititative and request for more such webcasts. What a better way to enjoy a Sunday morning than to see a full concert through web sitting at home.
Yesterday's concert was verty good. After a brief RTP in Saveri and thani, there was a garland of tukkadas- but of top notch songs. Two padams, Ini enna pechu(Sahana) and Upamuganu(YKambodi) were the highlights. So far I had not heard any padam from them. There were many other songs as well. Iasted for two hours. The quality of webstream was also very good without any interruption.

I still struggle with the word "tukkada". What makes a song tukkada. Many in the concert wait for the tukkada and if tukkada is kept in the beginning of a concert many music lovers may leave the concert after tukkada just like people leaving when tani avarttanam starts? Am I wrong and if so why the terminology "tukkada"?
