Vocal : Malladi Brothers
Violin : Mysore Nagaraj
Mridanga: K.V Prasad
Khanjira: Amruth

1. Sri Raghukula - Hamsadhwani - Tyagaraja. [S]
A good start by Malladi Bro. The composition was preceded by a short sketch of the raaga
followed by brisk swaras after the kriti.
2. Mamahrudaye - Reetigowla - Mysore Vasudevacharya [A,S]
A good elaboration of the raaga by Sri Ramprasad followed by Mamahrudaye. I do remember they having
sung this wonderful kriti in Bangalore a few yrs back.
3. Karunasamudra - Devagandhari - Tyagaraja
A brief outline of devagandhari was a treat to hear.. Enjoyed this composition.
4. Emayya Raama - Kambhoji -Bhadrachala Ramadasu
5. Eti Janma Midiha - Varali - Tyagaraja [A,N,S,T]
This was the main kriti of the concert. Good presentation of the kriti with lively and brisk swaras.
6. Sri Ramam Ravikulabdhi - Narayana Gowla - Dikshitir
7. Raamachandrena - Manji - Dikshitir
I enjoyed listening to both these compositions of Dikshitir.
8. RTP in Nattakurunji .
Pallavi -- " Koniyaada tarama Raama Nee Mahima"
Ragamailka swaras- Saveri, Kaanada, ?, Abheri , ?.
A enjoyed the elaboration of the raaga by both the brothers. Taana was grt with mridanga and
kanjira being played during taana..
9. Tripurim Sundareem - Kharaharapriya - ??
10. Eevela Nanu Brovaraa- Khamas - Bhadrachala Ramadasu
11. Govardhana Giridhara - Narayana Teertha
12. Nanate Baduku - Annamacharya.

They were not happy about the acoustics throughout the concert. RSM inspite of investing in JBL speakers.. have not much improved in the quality of sound in the pendal ! Very high decible sound for first few rows.. i dont know abt the last benches !

I cannot agree with you more! I felt like the bros did not do justice to this concert at all. Song after song I was very disappointed. I went in with a lot of expectations especially after listening to their Gayana samaj concert earlier this year which was a total blast.

The audio system could have been a factor but I think the main reason was because the brothers were not in tandem. Usually Ravikumar's voice comes out with a lot of power yet complimenting RamPrasad but that day it was just the reverse and RamPrasad was literally shouting at times. I also think they did not plan the concert well.

IMHO.. The Varali and the tani is something that I ll remember for quite sometime to come..
But yeah, the first half had very few things to praise about.. The same Reetigowla (one of my favourite raagas, and love the way Malladi Brothers used to sing this a couple of years ago, ironically) and the Kambodhi (!!!! it is the umpteenth time I'm hearing their Kambodhi) were disappointing to some extent to rasikas who came there expecting lots more :(

In the best of their days , i have heard the concert as an univocal concert. Could not find a moment when one would sing out of sync with the other. This concert had millions of such instances where i heard 2 voices !!

I sit a few rows behind, and the sound gets unbearably loud even there some times. I've often wondered how the people in the front row put up with it! Why is it so difficult to give us good sound even with all the advances in technology?

The audio sucks at RSM. I think they believe full volume == good sound system. Especially hurts for sensitive music.

Why is it so difficult to give us good sound even with all the advances in technology?
I think they'd procured some additional speakers between the violin-veena-venu and Vijay Siva programmes. I noticed only two in the former and five or six in the latter. However, there was no spacial spread, and they'd all been kept close to the front rows. This arrangement allows us to take refuge in the back seats, but probably necessitates it too!
I've often wondered how the people in the front row put up with it!
I can't even guess. Indeed, it must uncomfortably shake their rib cage, even if they are completely deaf!

In this context, I recollect Oli-5 ... it was so gentle to listen to the natural sound of two nAdaswaram and two tavils from so close-by in the outdoor concert. The bhairavi was meditative. You could close your eyes and get lovingly soaked in the swarajati.
