Priyadarshini Govind will be speaking on the intricacies of Padams and Javalis this Monday (4/30/12) at 7PM in MIT (Wong Auditorium). The lec-dem is free and everyone is welcome to attend!

People who can, should attend this lec-dem. Smt. Govind is very erudite, communicates wonderfully, and has a way of making everything relate to the 'now-and-here'. Her presentation will be her contemporary take, in additon to presenting her guru, Smt. Kalanidhi Narayan's point of view. She is famous for the myriad conversations she has with herself about each phrase/line of a padam, which then translate into refined and restrained expression/abhinaya.

I echo rshankar's sentiment. Unlike Ravi, I know very little about classical dance in general. But there are few than can engage me on the topic as well as Smt. Govind.

From what I see on the agenda, the music that serves as the backdrop from her lec-dem will be amazing too!
