srikris, please help. I have been trying to send corrections on Subbudu's AnnamE several times since yesterday. I am tired of typing them over and over again, only to see them disappear after every attempt! This happened with other threads too, but not this many times. What am I to do? I am hoping this would reach you, with some luck. Thanks...

Arasi:
I have not experienced that myself but I have not spent that much time in the edit mode either.
Since we do not know the underlying causes, here is what you can do and save yourself the re-editing trouble.
Copy the entire post that you want to edit and paste it to notepad or word pad or your favourite editor, make your corrections and save it. Now select the entire contents of that file, copy it, now get back to the forum post, click edit, select the entire post in that edit window and select paste. This should paste the new contents over the old one. Then finish up the edit by clicking submit.
If you still have trouble, please report back. Atleast this way you would not lose your edits since you have saved them away.

Meena and VK,
Can't thank you enough for such ready help. Somewhere in the forum I read a comment which said this place is intellectual, informed and all other impressive things--all true, but for you know who. Does the photo shop have a picture of moi in the corner with a dunce cap on? It was an exhausting ninety degree day, and even with all the help I get, I dare not try editing again
for another twenty four hours! All the same, J, P, dear George and Ringo, I am thankful for the help.

13. vaLLidAn--that very vaLLi
vAdu--argument; here, convincing (by clever reasoning)

lakshman,
Thanks for introducing me to this interesting song. Is music critic Subbudu the composer?
It has a lot of scope for expression in dance--not suitable for a vocal concert, though. Devanai's turbulent state and outpourings are such that she goes into detail about the encounter between her opponent and her husband! Confusing in a vocal concert for the singer and the audience (the two strands). In dance it is fine, with two performers playing the parts of D&V. Also, note how D goes on to speak of V resisting the advances of Murugan. She even calls M a loser!

Arasi,
The lyrics were what I wrote down from hearing the song rendered by one Neeraja under the music direction of BMK...I can't tell if the words you suggested are correct or not!
I used 'cheap and tawdry' instead of 'alluring' in keeping with the 'angry' and 'vindictive' mood of D vis-a-vis V here.
BTW, did you think the word 'annamE' refers to a swan or a young, comely maiden?
Ravi
